There has been some talk by the Sony executives of some kind of downloadable movie, and possibly music service coming for the PSN.  

 I think that Sony would be able to make a lot more $$$$ off of this, given that they are a music and movie company as well as a purveyor of electronics, but have reached the conclusion that this will probably not bring in a whole lot more than nickel and dime money for them.  What do y'all think about their chances of scoring well with whatever is announced?

Not at all if it's still cheaper and quicker to go and rent a DVD from a local store or watch it on cable.

This won't matter. It will cost sony almost nothing to implement, and microsoft, even though it has to shell out money to buy the rights to sell these things, has still apparantly made $$$ from it, or they wouldn't offer these downloads.

Note how llewdeb was talking about cost to the consumer, not cost to Sony.

Well it really depends, video store will be rental right.

What about music, if you buy it on the Ps3 will you be able to transfer it to your pc/mp3 player ? you better be able if not then screw it.

If the prices are very competetative it will do quite well.

Let the artibration of the video gaming element continue. By next gen the fact your video game console even plays video games will be considered a bonus feature.

  I wonder if the next thing from nintendo even has a cpu, probably a weigh scale with a timer and a mario sticker to sale to the fanboys.

 But of course a Mii Channel and Weather channel and a News channel are all about gams.

None of which are geared towards turning the Wii into a multi-media center either.

When did that person even say anything about Nintendo being the exception before their response? Nice bias.
