How do you change the character you're using on the field? Right now, I'm stuck with Retto because I guess it's the default character and I would like to select an another character.

You mean for noncombat? I don't think there is a way, at least none I'm aware of.

Hmm that sucks. Well I think there is no way. I looked everywhere with Google and found nothing.
It's weird because usually Namco's games give you that freedom unlike Square Enix.
