Forums - General Discussion - Hey, I built my own website

I have been coming to VGChartz since around July of 2006.  I am not trying to compete with them, they have one of the three best gaming sites on the Web.  I am trying to be something different.  I want my site to be a community of gamers.  Featuring their skills, talents, and personalities.  Please go over there and tell me what you think of it so far.

P.S. I have a contest on the forum over there i, where the Winner is given a $100 EBgames/Gamestop gift card, that I bought with my own meager funds.  It is sad and pathetic, but I only have had two people enter it. :(

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Around the Network

Well I'll certainly join but being a member of a few video game sites I can see how difficult it is for them to get a lot of members unless they have something unique and interesting to offer.

One site was building up members slowly and it had a few thousand members and also used to have competitions to win Nintendo item, but there are only about 5 of us posting now, which is shame.

So if you don't get a lot joining it's not down to the quality of your site, it's that there are so many others out there!

P.S I've joined, managed to log in first time but when I return it will now not let me log in.

I know, that is why I want to feature the community. I am actually going to be investing a good portion into it once it is 100% and have a moderate user base. I want to throw parties around the U.S. (one day around the world?)

It is purely self-serving. I want to meet gamers, bring them together. I think it will be important for us to know each other in the RW if we ever want to have a real voice politically or with the developers. If I can make a living doing this, great, if not I will still do it.
