isn't this standard practice for MMORPGS ?

btw, i never heard of mag before this post.

Um... did someone miss the term "Massively Multiplayer"? They keep up a persistent world with hundreds of players in a firefight--those servers ain't free, people!

 MAG was announced at e3,,

it's an online shooter that will have 256 players palying at the same time ,, so it's all about online battles

it's planned for release next year

Honestly you cannot expect a large-scale server-based game to not have a subscription fee. Name such a game that doesn't have it. (Guild Wars just has non-fighting areas on free servers, remember -- all fighting gets farmed off as peer-to-peer games)

I doubt MAG will have a large fee in any case. I would totally pay for a $5/month "premium" service, if I got to play MAG, got a Qore subscription included, and maybe some other stuff (like a discount on the DC MMO). Hell, I would pay $10 / month, if they included a $5 DLC "coupon" every month as a bonus. I pay at least that much each month for some random new PSN game.

lol i knew this would happen the other day i was thinking about it, because i think they will hold big servers i dont know 1000 servers arround the world so people connect to them becasuse 256*100 = 256.000 people playing at the same time its ok so yeah they will charge because they need a lot of bandwith for that

Why not sign some advertisement deals? I'm not too big on the idea of getting attacked with ads, but I think 256 players fighting at one time could keep attention elsewhere.
