(I must be daft, but I always thought this site a sales related site. So every announcement should be critiqued in terms of sales. And with Killzone, Haze, CoD, Resistance, HalfLife, ArmyofTwo, Unreal Tournament (etc) all hitting the PS3 soonish - another shooter won't make any difference).

Splitting hairs doesn't change the fact it falls into the same category of done-to-death.

1.  We don't even know what the genre is. 

2.  You are acting like Gears of War didn't sell systems and over 4.33 million copies of the game.

3.  If you are just going to be negative about every Sony news/rumor/theory/everything then good riddance. 

Your attacks are done-to-death.  We don't know what the game will be. 

It was a rumor in EGM's rumor section.  It went right along with the announcement that Epic and Sony have a multi-part deal with the Unreal Engine being optimized and UT3 being timed exclusive and having mods.  As you should know, those 2 items were announced at E3.  The third part of the multi-part deal is this "rumor" that is indeed based on facts. 

Sorry but if its going to be a Gears of War rip-off then the original has beat them to the market appeal obviously. Furthermore with such a pitiful instalation base how do you expect a game on the PS3 to ever compete with the original on the 360? And as we've yet to see even one game notably move PS3s, I have no idea what you people keep getting excited about.

I sincerely hope you were referring to ckmlb's second comment ("Also Gears of War is not an FPS it's a 3rd person shooter") and not the first ("No one said it's a shooter. It's a game set in the Gears of War universe is all we know. Also, it's still a rumor").
