Forums - Gaming Discussion - Has anyone ever bought the sega saturn, dreamcast or n-gage??

I pay for my games, but the RIAA can go to hell. Especially now that they've dragged Internet Radio into a dark alley and shot it in the head for being successful.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

Before iTunes I always downloaded all my music but always said that if there was a service that let me download songs for $0.75 I would go for that. After all, downloading songs was always a pain in the ass because the names would often be funny, the quality wasn't always great, and sometimes people would just rename songs to something completely different to be dicks. To me, $0.75 was worth not putting up with that hassle.

When iTunes was first released at $0.99 per song, I was a little hesitant at first but I like how easy it is. It has just about every song and I don't mind paying that much for a song or $9.99 for an album. For things iTunes doesn't have, I just use Yahoo music though I looked at Zune a few nights ago and their songs are $0.79 so might have to take a look at that. I just hate the Zune software. I can put up with iTunes and its bullshit but Zune is just annoying and slow.

actually its deceiving. Its 79 zune "points" per song, but you only buy 400 zune points at a time for 5 dollars-- it comes out to be 99 cents give or take 1/4 or a cent or so.

I've owned both a Saturn and Dreamcast, and it's very crude to compare them to the N-Gage. The DC and SAT both sold 10 mil, the N-Gage sold 300,000 or so.

With the Saturn, I remember there being very few launch games, and the games that came out afterwards were of little interest to me. All I ever bought were a couple Arcade ports, and there were no games to talk about with other people.

With the Dreamcast, I remember buying Soul Calibur, Sonic Adventure, and Hydro Thunder. I was almost positive the Dreamcast was going to do far better than the Saturn. The killing blow had to be when I heard Half Life was going to be cancelled for the system and that 3rd party support was leaving. It was a crushing blow. I played Soul Calibur with friends until I bought Super Smash Bros. Melee for Christmas 2001.

The worst part of the failure for SAT and DC was the knowledge that you just wasted a ton of money on a console that looked like it would have long legs. I gave into the Saturn hype and Sega's sly advertising. I wasn't fooled by the Dreamcast, but ended up buying it for the games. It's a really bad feeling, but I'm happy with my PS2, so no grudges.

As for the N-Gage, who actually bought that?

Oh, and why is everyone talking about downloading MP3s?

I own a Sega Saturn and Sega Dreamcast.

The Saturn was just so expensive and seriously underwhelming to me. I mean, Street Fighter 2 Turbo on SNES was better than just about anything on Sega Saturn for the first full year or so. But I loved it. Fighting Vipers

On occassion I get flashbacks to days I'd spend hours at a time playing VB, skipping the breaks because I wanted to get back to the action.

's probably part of the reason my eyesight is so bad, heh.

I bought the dreamcast. Seriously it was a great system too bad it didn't make it.

Ah, that's good to know, guess I won't be fiddling with Zune anytime soon.
