It'll sell a lot more than 2 million. A games sales isn't simply a percentage of console sales. I promise you it will have a much higher attach rate than the PS2 games.

If you haven't yet noticed, the sales figures for the consoles are listed on the front page of the site.

There is  holiday season coming up at the end of the year in which the number of PS3 consoles sold will more likely increase before the release of GT5 whenever that may be.

to answer your question:

At the moment, 15.58 million PS3 consoles have been sold.

That means that to get to 10 million units of GT5 sold, 2 out of three current owners would have to buy the game.

I suspect you're just looking to anger people or possibly even troll.

One of the reasons, is that racing games appeal to pretty much everyone. Therefore, a bigger installbase does in this case mean a lot.

Another thing, is that when GT came out, it crushed everything quality wise. Even if the opponents have managed to catch up, people will still buy GT. This is the same case as GTA, or Final Fantasy.

So really, GT is a case of its own. For comparing racing games sales, it and Mario Kart are simply too good, so you should compare those two, and then the rest (ala, NFS, Forza and such).

GT5 will sell even because of it name. Still I can't see GT5 to top GT4. There is no way it can sell more then 10m. 5-6 sure, but 10m - no way. The situation now is diffrent. Userbase is smaller, there are more competitors and so on ...

Woe woe woe. As a massive racing fan who is affter simulation you are wrong. In fact I'm so into racing that I havent missed a single F1 grand Prix for 15 years. I bought owned and finished every GT up to 4. Also Ive had the priveldge of extensivly playing GT5P on my mates PS3. Graphically GT5P wins hands down, but gameplay. No. Forzas Ai is significantly better. the tuning options that affect your car is alot more in F2 and the data available about everything on your car as you drive is phenominal. Forza is a better simulator. Also online GT5P is barely playable as a simulator. The worst place to be in GT5 online is first into a corner, because you know you will get ploughed into the wall. After playing both quite alot Forza 2 is the racers simulator and GT5P is more mainstream simulator( meaning it's not quite there).

So wait, are people trying to say that the full GT5, a game whose DEMO, which you had to pay for, sold at leat 2.5m, is not going to sell at least twice as much?

You guy are living in fantasy land... If GT5 doesn't sell 5-7m within 6 months of release (or to about 20% of PS3 owners by the time it comes out) I will permaban myself from this site.

By the way, people talking about things changing and games not selling on PS3, please go to the MGS4 prediction threads and see how people made fools of themselves there....

Having played GT 3 and then GT 4 i have to say that they should have called GT 4 GT 3.5, Afterall it looked identical and added like what? 2 or 3 tracks? (I know, lets add a snowy track and call it GT 4, that will shut them up for another 4 years) The problem is that sony fanboys will never acknowledge the fact that there are other racers out there that are just as good or in forza 2's case......... better than GT, GT fans speak like the game is "untouchable"........ Sorry, but that is simply not the case anymore

gt 5 IS HUGE.

especially in europe, some people will get ps3 just to play the game.
even with the low install base ps2 gt 3 a spec sold over 14 million.

gt 4 sold less for a reason: piracy still got over 9 million.
