Forums - General Discussion - Blogging VGChartz: The ongoing thread

Blog a paragraph or two or five or whatever about your day or something you've been thinking about. It could be related to video games or vgchartz or school or your boyfriend or whatever. Just blog. The only guidelines are:

1. No more than five paragraphs. (If you're just on a roll or just have to keep typing then ignore this).
2. Read the post above yours. You must mention something about the blog post above you, but it can be rather insignificant (it just kinda proves you read it.)
3. Post twice a day if you feel like it. If you feel like posting more use the edit button.
4. No personal attacks, keep it civil, keep it about yourself. Of course a conversation or discussion could develop and that's cool, it's just not a thread for arguing. And if you want to rant, rant, just make sure it's clear that you're ranting.

So I'll start.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Logged on like usual. I don't think I log off unless the router has to be rebooted. Lots of new people. I see people with over 1k posts and I've never heard of them! Wut? Eventually I'll go back through their post history anyways. Need to do a couple new tags today. I've been slacking there.

Fuck the economy sucks. Losing 20% of my 401k and a lot more than that in my regular investment account sucks the big one. I'm even considering economizing and not buying Kirby Super Star (which I love). The other thing I'm looking forward to is the Japanese training program. I don't like Ubisoft, and they made it, but they also made the French training program which was actually decent. I remembered a lot of my 8th grade French and even learned some. But since I'm making a trip to Kyoto next year I'd really like to know more phrases than vulgar bar talk (which is what I know now, which has its uses, but it's limited).

Getting swamped with work. For some reasone people are getting their broken pocket watches fixed. Well, I guess it's time raise prices because I'm at that point where I have more work than I can handle. Looking forward to playing some more TW'09 All-Play and Hot Shots Golf online.

1st Edit: Oh yeah, today's my birthday. The party was Sunday which happens to be my youngest nieces Birthday also, so we're born a couple days plus four and a half decades apart.

Around the Network

I too logged on today like usual. No class today, so I'm just sitting around, doing absolutely nothing. Just watched ER for two hours on TNT. I forgot how much I love this show. I think I might have to illegally download a few more episodes to make it through the day.

Game Informer came a week ago, and I think I might get around to reading it today. Not the cover story, mind you (Star trek online), just the general filler, between the 60 or so pages of ads in this issue. I tell you, Game Informer has the most ads of any magazine I've ever seen.

It's 2:30AM and I'm sitting infront of my computer eating crispy M&M's and Skittles at the same time. Life doesn't get any better than this.
I have work in 5 hours, and I've run out of coffee so I'm pretty much fucked aren't I?

Also, it's really hot and my back is sticking to the chair.

Well, that's it for now :P

Happy birthday, Frank!

Woke up irritated, as usual. I hate mornings. Went to office, found out I have a job interview on Monday. That's nice. It's at a radio station and the radio station doesn't entirely suck, so that's another plus. It's also in Minneapolis, a city I love.

Then I found out GoDaddy FUBARed my email so I spent half an hour sorting out that mess. I have five fully functioning email accounts again. Yay. Now I'm going to work on my webcomic for a bit and then go have lunch.

Exciting stuff.

Hmmm, I woke up at 8 today, irritated as well. I didn't get much sleep because of a stupid oral presentation for French class that I didn't present today anyway. I got away with it because one of my teammates was away for some reason. Classes started at 8:30, so I had a little less than 15 minutes to do a little chemistry homework as well for an experiment. Damn, I shouldn't have been partying the last few days...! >_>

Well, I'm complaining here, but I actually really like wednesdays because I get to see my other teammate in English class and she's really fun (and cute... and stuff, hehe). We have a little funny thing going on, there are coffee machines here at college, and I usually bring a different one every single time I go to class. And then she just goes and say ''Which flavor is it this time?'' and if she really likes it, we usually drink it together, one sip at a time (french vanilla for the win)! Sometimes, she's the one bringing some other weird drinks and all, like pineapple juice (how can someone drink that stuff?). With that said, man, I like coffee!

Other than that, shit happens, life happens.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

Been up for 50 hours now (Edit: I forgot, I took a 1/2 hour nap 23 hours in). Starting to feel I could conk out at any second. That's my old army training and caffeine working (plus some OCD and a ton of work with deadlines). But the work's done and now I get to sleep during my birthday, what a present.

My new kitten (Fou-Fou Gris) is a lot of fun. He likes to sleep on my shoulder or on my lap. Found out my PSP can play DOOM. Woo Hoo! About the only FPS that I ever played for more than ten minutes (I've played DOOM 100's of hours). The PSP is such a great machine; why doesn't Sony offer something like Nintendo with the VC channel? The PSP can certainly handle the emulation. Are you listening to me Sony?

Sad note, my best friend got a pink slip today. Shit happens, life happens. Of course the job was in the mortgage industry. Never thought I would see the day that the government nationalized 10% of the financial industry. And under a Republican President? Wut? Only socialists do that.

So what is this whole blogging thing anyway? If I'm doing it wrong someone let me know. I drank 14 litres of diet coke in the last 48 hours. I fixed an Hamilton 23j pocket watch and worked on restoring (polishing and re-blueing) the screws for a museum piece watch, a keywind watch manufactured in the the 1850's. And filing my amended tax return with all the extra documentation the IRS wanted and it turned out that instead of owing them 20 more grand they actually owe me $400. Better than nothing.

A couple days ago I set up a youtube account so I could post the condensed version of the family movies (1935-47). Two hours worth of footage that I edited down to ten minutes. If you'ld like to see how kids ran around and had fun 70 years ago BEFORE VIDEO GAMES here's the LINK. All of the little boys in the video are my uncles. The adults are my grandmother, grandfather, great-great-grandmother, etc. You get the idea. Sleep time for me now...

Edit: Thanks for the Happy B-Day OKR!

50 hours ? man sleep that kind of hours on a day

Well I started about 4 hours ago surfing vgc and noticed the latest changes.
spammed a bit in the say something threads and read some news. =]

Don't forget : school is good for you, I learnt doing some funny stuff with excel and controlling other pc's on the network!

I've been thinking about Golf Games lately. I play HotShots:OT2 four or five times a week, and when I do it's always for a couple hours or more. I finished the first PSP HSG 100%. Now I'm starting to play TW:'09 All-Play.

I play golf video games. From the first NES title (which I shot a legitimate -21 on) up to the latest. I've played all of the Nintendo titles and also Swing Away Golf and Tiger Woods 2004/2006. And those are just the ones I liked. I have the Greg Norman golf title that was on the NES, Wailea Links that was on the N64 and several others that are pure crap.

I'm a video golf fanboy for sure. But I'm also a fan of golf and a golfer. I watch at least half of the PGA Tour events every year and always the Majors. I play 20+ rounds of golf/year and go out to the range to hit balls and practice 20+ times/year. I pay my membership dues to the USGA every year. I've been playing golf for 32 years (and that's not including putt-putt golf).

The strange thing (at least to me) is that none of the people I play with play video games or have the slightest interest in playing them. That changes a little with Wii Sports but that's with lapsed golfers. A few of my video game friends actually got up the urge to go hit the links and play some real golf after some Wii Sports golf. It didn't turn into anything regular except with one guy but it is counter-intuitive that a video game would get someone to go outside and walk 4 miles.

So the people I play with regularly don't play video games, not even golf video games. Admittedly the age group (40-78) isn't that great a demographic for video gamers but a few of them were playing the NES and were part of that craze when they were young adults. Still, they have no interest in video games and most refuse to play video games except some Wii Sports and especially Wii Golf but only at a party or during breaks at a Poker night (after they've had a few). They don't go home and buy a Wii after playing Wii Golf. Most of them have a Wii anyway because their wife bought one for Wii Fit or there's one there for the grand-kids to play. But they don't play Wii Sports at home, not even Wii Golf. Some people are just not video gamers... or, the machine that will make them one hasn't been invented yet.

P.S. - The latest changes at VGC are an improvement.

P.P.S. - I'm going to stop proof reading these blog posts. So if theres typol (I'm dylsexic) or misspellings, missing words and gramatical errors their just gunna be that way. So they're, hah.

Great thread, fkusumot.

Maybe tomorrow I'll post a blog. Today I'm going to look at houses for rent. My current situation leaves a lot to be desired.
