Plat #92 - Dark Souls SoTFS (PS4)

Well that was 68hrs of mixed emotions. Had to play up to NG++ and it was the first time I had built a unarmed (460 DMG output) and bow (Dragon Rider - 560 DMG) build. Going through all DLC's (which are 3 of the worst DLC's in the Souls series imo) and through a full new game with nothing but fists, smacking The Rotten in the face up to NG++++++++++++(13) for my 3m souls needed for the Shrine of Winter skip in NG++ felt incredibly satisfying!! But ... The sheer amount of farming this game requires (I played fully offline) was exhausting. farming Sunlight medals for Rank 3 Sun Bros, farming Mad Warrior for Rank 2 Bell Keepers, doing all 3 chalice dungeon esc areas for Pilgrims of The Dark that ended with what I found hands down the hardest boss (Darklurker) took it out of me. Farming to rank 3 of Champions Covenant for my Vanquisher seal (That was the backbone of my build) wasn't to bad tho.

This game was a mixed bag for me, I didn't like the artificial difficulty or the terrible enemy hit detection (fuck the falconers too death) SoTFS had some weird changes aswell. That was a long near 70hrs and I'm taking a long break from anything souls.

I don't know how you stuck it out that long to platinum it. I threw in the towel at around 20 hours into my second build, the game isn't a souls game in my eyes and everything about it feels unfinished and unpolished plus the extra health regen removes all tension from the game. Thankfully I'm not the only one who agrees, going to just imagine this doesn't exist while I finish my DS RM and DS3 plats.

I 100% agree, it might carry the name but it's absolutely not a Souls game. The first one had a level of fairness that whilst hard was never cheap and it never punished the player for being bad. This one tho ... just punishes the player no matter how bad they are, oh you're dying a lot ok then let's reduce your health a bit every time, let's make it so you can get invaded even whilst hollow, let's not even try to make challenging areas with unique enemies.. let's just throw 3,4,5,6 enemies at you at once. It was artificial and cheap. I role played the entire remaster for the 2.5 playthroughs i needed purely as Iron Tarkus and it felt amazing. This one felt like tanks where useless and where heavily penalised. Glad to see the back of it.

damn, I needed like 200+h to do all that ..

atleast it sounds like I had a bit more fun, as I thought the DLC was great (but fuck the Ice-ponies) and I liked the game overall, although on average the level design is quite shitty and several bosses are pretty boring

Arc... you alive?

Yep, I'm alive. Life has thrown a few challenges my way and they've been consuming most of my time.

At the moment, I'm not able to perform the league updates. I chatted with GhettoGlamour (he's the one who created the application used to collect everyone's trophy information) and he has expressed willingness to post the updates for a while. Hopefully I'll be in a position to resume updates in the near future.

Hurry back or you'll miss the 10 year anniversary.
