Heretic ! Not liking Game of Thrones !!!

Well these days I get most of my games new for around 35-40$ on Amazon, I just wait that they have been released for 1 month or so and then the price drops. I have a big enough backlog that the wait isn't a problem.

I quit Best Buy the day Amazon sent me a better credit card than the Best Buy one and I don't like how they started charging for the Gamer's club . Plus generally the stock at my local Best Buy has become terrible...

Anyway in the end I don't pay for any games as I use my reward on them and I have more than enough to cover my gaming needs  and still have leftover on the side for graphic novels or others purchases...( my comics/graphic novels budget is a lot bigger than my gaming one these days...)

Game of Thrones is awful.  They keep teasing winter coming, which makes it sound like it would get good, but I'm told Winter still hasn't even shown up like 5 books in.  They didn't even really show battles on TV, it just skipped them entirely for the stupid "I have sex with my sister" drama or whatever.

Yeah, I get most of my games in the $5-15 range.  The Gamers club fee paid for itself with all the really cheap games I got from it, but recently it hasn't been as good.

I will say Amazon Prime is downright nutty lately.  I've been getting a lot of my stuff with free next day shipping even though I get the default 2 day shipping.  I picked up Starcraft 2 from a lightning deal yesterday (around 11 am maybe?) for $17.99 and the UPS guy just dropped it off.

These days I definitely use Amazon more for movies and random stuff.

So... PS4 conference. Thoughts?

In terms of system power and graphics, it's better but definitely not as revolutionary as the jump from PS2 era to PS3.

Which is I think why a lot of the innovation is found in the social functionalities. Some of them are neat, others had me thinking, "Do people seriously have such little patience nowadays?"

The controller is neat, though. It's the solid, trustworthy gamepad plus touch controls plus motion control. As long as the software is designed well it should be enjoyable to use.

As for games, the new inFamous announcement is both nice and disappointing. Just kinda want Sucker Punch to go for a new IP. Watch Dogs and The Witness are interesting, but we know that already. Killzone still looks like a pretty shooter with not much of a story. Bungie's Destiny making its appearance is a nice blow to the competitor. Other titles are so-so looking as well, but will keep an eye on them. And Diablo 3 can go screw itself - ain't falling for that a second time!

Anyways, it all seem fairly decent, and I suppose there's no reason for complaint. The technology is there, and so it's simply up to the developers to put their hearts and souls into crafting true masterpieces full of creativity and sublime mechanics.

Oh, and most importantly, our profile and trophies are making the leap to next-gen too! =)

PS4 baby!

Infamous: second son is great announcement for me. It sad that Cole is not the main hero anymore but new beginning. I really hope this one sells well.

Edit*  forgot to add.

Can't wait to see how fully integrated the trophies in PS4. The social aspect.

It was interesting to hear what their vision is for the PS4 - loved what I heard. Would have been nice to see more of the PS4 rather than just hear about it, but I'm sure that will come in due time. A lot of the features mentioned (like suspend/resume, play before download is complete, remote play on Vita, etc) sounded great, but I have my concerns as to whether Sony will be able to deliver on everything that was promised, especially the Gaikai features. I'm sure eventually all the features mentioned will be there, but how far after launch will we have to wait for them?

Edit: And LOL @ Square Enix. "We would like to announce that we're announcing something at E3"

@Arcturus
Yeah the SquareEnix announcement was laughable. I thought for a second he was going to announce FF7.

The rest of the conference was pretty solid though. Very happy to see the console has 8GB of DDR5 memory and is capable of 1.84 TFLOPS (8x the power of PS3's floating-point operations per second). I questioned some of the new social network features like the ability to assist and take over someones game to help them out, but I do think the ability to spectate someone's game is really cool! Sharing 15 minutes of gameplay on youtube will be nice for some people and people who do trophy guides. The background downloads and ability to start playing a game while its downloading is great too especially as game downloads will be even bigger. And the Vita announcement that it will be able to stream all PS4 games is huge! Just made the Vita such a worthwhile investment for being on the go (or if someone else wants to watch TV and your home) as long as you have a good wi-fi connection. Hopefully they keep this promise.

Thought Killzone 4 looked great and so did Deep Down which is most likely Dragon's Dogma 2.
Watch Dogs is interesting and Infamous: Second Son are now on my radar. Glad they showed a lot of games and the controller which looks to have nice improvements with the triggers and D-pad. Would have been nice to get a sneak peak at the console too, but they gotta save some excitement for E3.

Another piece of good news I have read about the PS4 after the conference is that it will still accept used games.

The only bad thing I have heard following that is that since PS1/PS2/PS3 disc based games won't be backwards compatible that PSN purchases will also not be compatible.

Hopefully with Gaikai they will find a way to allow you to stream these games without repurchasing them. Otherwise I may just have to keep my PS3.

Gaikai did make the promise that eventually all PS1, PS2, and PS3 games will be streaming and I think it's a very interesting that all those games will be playable from any device like a tablet or a phone bringing those games to everyone, even if its not a Sony device.

Grrr 3 new Resident Evil 6 DLC are out and they are not single player ones..
Not sure I'm going to get them but I hate that Resident Evil 6 is down to 65% completion...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

I read this too, and it is good news. However, the way the question was answered "Yes the PS4 will play used games" still leaves it open for them to add "...after you purchase an activation code for that used game."

Nah they should add "..but you won't earn trophies for used games". ;)

@Ail
Lol. Yeah I would buy all my PS4 games new if that were true.
And I just read something about trophies not working on used Vita games. I didn't know this was true as I rented two Vita games from Gamefly. Maybe I was the first to play them? However, there is a way around it if you reformat the card.

Edit: Apparently its only for the games that save to the game card.
