I would like to know the correct definition of the term, "trolling".  Here is why:  it seems to me that many times a person goes on a thread and they say, "I prefer this over this and here is why."  Now many times if what they think or prefer doesn't go along or runs contrary to the views of the majority they are instantly accused of trolling.

      Of course from my experience this is what happens.  I go on to a forum say why I like or think something is better than another thing, then if what I've said goes against majority opinion, several people start saying why I'm wrong, etc.  Now to demonstrate that my original viewpoint had validity regardless of majority opinion, I need to be able to defend it.  However, more posts defending that point leads to more allegations of trolling from the majority and usually bans, etc.

     So, I guess my questions are:  1.)  What is the difference between trolling and legitamately arguing a point?  2.)  If you have a legitimate point that goes against majority opinion, then how do you propely go about defending it instead of being accused of trolling?

     These seem like fine lines to me.

itsd trolling because on vgc people dont know what the word means and think you can call people a troll when they do not conform to popular opinion, which would be anything non nintendo related.

The wii is the best, not trolling.

The ps3 is the best, trolling.

The x360 is the best, trolling.

Isn't that the same thing that happens everyday in courtrooms across America? It is also the same thing that will happen in the Presedential debates in a few weeks, so that definition seems like an American institution to me.
