Forums - Gaming Discussion - if you had a 360 and it got the RROD for the 3rd time

its good not to be a ps3 fanboy..

........I'd ask God what I did to deserve his wrath. Only sinners get the RRoD. Go to church.

PS3

I shouldn't really bother, being that this looks like it was built for those who would rather live under a bridge but it is quite relevant to me and why i brought a Ps3. I was looking at a 360 for about a year but the thought of RRoD turned my stomach. For me a company rushing a faulty product to release and asking those who buy it to be patient (three years patient) is beyond believe. I wont buy its goods this generation and i will be very weary the next. As for the Ps2 i had one for seven years. After four it stopped reading discs, what did i do? brought a new laser for £15 and replaced it at home. had no more trouble with it after that, in fact i sold it 6 months ago on flee bay. Anyway if you have fallen for your 360 i can quite understand putting up with RRoD, sending it off to be fixed and all that that entails. If was me i would still be pretty pissed at MS for hampering the growth of a machine that i had invested in but no doubt i would still stand by the 360, if i had fallen for it.

In short, i can understand people defending their 360. I cant understand people defending MS.

what would u do if you wanted it for HD Gaming

1 would u upgrade to an elite 360

or

2 would you get a ps3

There are so many ways to look at this.  Here are some points to consider:

1) Some people buy the second of the same console.  Of course you can only use the one working one.  But if you can afford it anyway, buy another 360.

2) Do you still regularly play your 360 games?  Then maybe it's worth buying another 360.

3) If Microsoft is willing to send you a new replacement over a reburbished one, you might want to seriously consider that.

4) If you are pretty much done with playing with your owned 360 games, buying a PS3 will let you experience the PS3's exclusives.  And don't forget that 3rd party developers have been cranking out multi-platform games that are just as good on the PS3 if not better.

5) If you see yourself buying extra peripherals for the 360, you might find yourself saving money with the PS3 out of the box.  Plus, you have Blu-ray playback.

6) Are you willing to tolerate/chance a 4th RROD?  If not, get a PS3.  It's got plenty of quality games and hardware stability.

7) And lastly, don't listen to Starcraft.  Gamers are not sheep to rankings.  Gamers choose what they want because they know what they want, and that's what's more important.

Why buy a PS3?

It has 1/3 the AAA titles...........

While 'AAA' titles are indeed important, I think you're overstating the importance of them somewhat.

Bioshock was critically one of last years greatest games, a genuine 'AAA' title. Yet it was trounced in sales by Assassins Creed, which certainly isn't an 'AAA' title.

Metacritic:

Bioshock: 96%

Assassins Creed: 81%

The truth is, gamers play what they want to play, not what Metacritic or Gamerankings tells them to.

My classic example:

"One of my favorite games this gen has been the underrated survival horror gem Siren. So far, Siren received a 78% AVERAGE rating. This AVERAGE rating will not stop me from enjoying Siren. In fact, Resident Evil (main storyline) games have scored higher than Siren, but Siren's gameplay and presentation appeal to me more than the Resident Evil series. So when I find a game I like, I'm going to buy it, and I'm going to enjoy it."

Yes, by Metatritic ratings, PS3 has less AAA games that the 360. However, the two games I'm most excited about this year are on PS3. One was released - MGS4. One is released on Dec. 25 - White Knight Chronicles. And yes - I do live in Japan and yes I do understand some Japanese. LBP is also one I'm really pumped up for.
If 360 didn't have so many jRPGs, I would gladly stick with PC and PS3 for my gaming needs. Wii - that's a different story all together.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
