Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Putting tired complaints to rest: Nintendo and the core gamer.

This is my first post here so i want you to bear with me a little bit.

Here are my thoughts on the whole thing and all the Nintendo hate that's crept up recently and anyone who was old enough to remeber the days when the Playstaion One started taking over the gaming industry will know what I am talking about.

Back when PS1 started gaining on Nintendo and the N64 hadn't come out yet. There were so many people hating on Sony and claiming how great Nintendo was and that Sony was going to bite it when the 64 came out and all the great 1st party games started hitting the sales charts.
Once that day came, and the sales were lackluster and the N64 didn't appear to be doing what they thought the hate got even harder and haters became more vocal. After the following holiday season after the 64's launch all the haters started to slowly become less vocal untill the hate died down and they became Sony converts themselves.

Fast forward 2 generations of Sony domination and Nintendo's reimergence and you see the same pattern creeping up again. More haters on the dominating console and more vocal hate as the months drag on. If history repeats itself, they'll stop the hate after the holiday's and make their own Miis.

One final thought, all this hate I speak of occured during my High School years, and as an angst filled youth I had a lot of hate to spred around. I don't believe that many of the haters are mature enough yet to realize blatent fanboi-ism doen't make any argument seem beliveable or intelligent.

I have a feeling those who argue Nintendo is too casual won't be posting here...

Perhaps you'll have to copy and paste that horrendously long list any time someone makes that argument hehe...kinda like when Sony fans used to spit out the entire games list from then til 2008 hehe.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I consider hardcore the elite professional gamers, like me and Bodh up there. Core gamers are the general gamers who like specific or multiple genres but typically have a dislike for most non-games. Casual gamers are the people who call themselves gamers but prefer the non-games saying their better then any other type of game because the other types of games are to hard and have to many buttons.

Ill break down you list farther hold on

Ok ill admit I have no idea what half these games are so ill be putting the ones I do know in a list I think these belong

Sure, I gues if you want to define it that way. Obviously all these games don't appeal to all core gamers, but that doesn't mean that they aren't targeted at core gaming audience. The classic kind of gaming that's been around since the Atari. The type of games gaming itself was built on.

So core gamers are people who like games but casual gamers are people that like games that are non-games. So a non-core gamer would be someone that doesn't like non-games that are core games. But a non-casual gamer would like core games that are non-games.

That's what I always say!

As far as I am concerned, Nintendo hates me and wants to elope with my mother and there is nothing that can change that point of view. I have got to go because me and my friends are going to play some melee.
