ph4nt said: With my experience on this site (and many others) I find that until the Wii is brought up, Wii fanboys don't talk about anything unusual, just "oh look Nintendo is doing great" "look whats coming out for Wii!" etc. Don't get me wrong it's pretty fanboyish to say "nintendomination" every week, or how much the Wii is winning, but most people rarely ever do that.
What really, really ticks me off (along with many other Wii fans). Is when the PS360 fans start downplaying the Wii as "only winning on price" "all casual games" "kiddy console" "terrible graphics" "gimmick" "Why is Wii selling so much" "not really a competitor". That's when the Wii fans strike back saying the above is not true, which it isn't.
I will not deny there are bad Wii fanboys everywhere, but you can't deny that PS360 ones are way more aggressive. |
i think what most people are reffering to when they say stuff like that, although i don't see that as much as you would have me believe, is that those things that nintendo did have it in a very comfortable position.
a lot of those things are downsides as well.
but the price and gimmick(which is not a bad word, but can be) have it in a much better market situation than the other consoles. it is up to the buyer to decide what kind of games they prefer to play. does the innovation matter?
i really believe that what has benefitted the wii most is it's marketability to people buying for gray hairs and short hairs. "Oh, this would be good for them."
to bring this around to your point, i think a lot of ps360 fanboys try to mention that some of the people with a wii will never play it. I had my wii when my rentz bought one for themselves and then never played it after the first ten minutes. i don't think that wii fanboys are defending the system per se, but defending their Ungoldy overlording they are "allowed" to have for spending 200$ on the system.
to do something like that when ps360 fans are merely saying that the market is literally flooded by radio contest giveaways, and the like, it is almost like the ipod in that the wii has become something that you use as currency.
starting a contest? reward with wii. selling candy bars for school? reward with wii. it has really become phenomena how the desirability price is through the roof compared to the monetary price. ps360 fans are just pointing out that a lot of those consoles are going not to eager to buy individuals/families but to ticket holders, attendees, and ski ballers.
