Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Metroid Prime 3: a radical departure into FPS territory?

The funny thing about this thread is a found out MP 3 will have:

  • Samus out of suit.
  • more character interaction.
  • Less backtracking
  • Amazing motion controls.

If I could tell the MP 3 team to work on 4 things and 4 things only, this would have been the 4 things. 5th would have been some sort of online concept. but these are the big 4 so I went from not really interested in this game, to I will most likely now get it. Awesome.

Is this the same 1up guy who said he hates motion control and will dock review scores for any games that use it?

Where did you get this from? source?

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

personally i think 1up is anti Nintendo but I agree with rockstarjerry981 i think 1up was speaking about Skytown. I don't know why less backtracking would be bad thing, especially when it is substituted with more action.....

It appears that any gaming site that criticizes one thing about Nintendo is anti Nintendo now but when they criticize Sony or MS it's all fine and dandy.

I don't really mind the shift into first-person shooter style. What I really liked about Metroid was its unique array of weaponry and level/boss design. I know there will be those that complain about this change, but as long as the game's fun, it doesn't matter to me.

And by the way ckmlb, these things happen. Some people will defend their system no matter how illogical their arguments are. I'm not saying anyone here is a rabid fanboy, but it happens.

Apparently when I criticize Sony or MS, I'm a Wii fanboy...but if I criticize Nintendo, it's all fine and dandy.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

No, Jeremy Parish is actually a very strong Nintendo advocate among 1UP (a rare thing, as most of 1UP despises the Wii and constantly takes shots at it).  However, he is playing the first level.  The first level of Metroid Prime is always linear, as it's the level where you learn the controls.  So I'd say he's not biased, but what he is experiencing is to be expected.

cklmb's nagging is starting to get annoying.

Most people here seem to be fair, then there are the fanboys. Don't kill the other ones for criticizing things.

Holy crap I can't wait to start MP3 next month!!!!

In your defense cklmb, I didn't think the thread is anti-nintendo. You just posted a critisizm of the game. Which actually, sounds good to me. I agree with fooflexible, it just sounds like they've made improvements.
