Fair enough.  Now what was your excuse for a little while ago when everyone else countered your points and asked if you could provide counterpoints to support your argument?

To be fair, he didn't counter my points either, but the reason I was awarded a response is, I'm pretty good at getting a rise out of Obie.

you must tell me your secret.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

whatever you say sunshine............ sony had nothing till they got in bed with nintendo in 1992 and then cheated on them and made their own system with the hardware and software ideas that they stole......... so what did sony give to the gaming word to begin with that sega or nintendo had not already thought of........ eyetoy? leave it out...... tut tut tut

Someone beat me to it, but to reiterate Nintendo ditched Sony with little explanation or warning to pursue what they felt was the better format, Cartridges. Sony was left holding the plans for the Nintendo Playstation and decided to release it to recoup loses, leading to one of the biggest mistakes Nintendo ever made.  They went on to make the N64, which bordered on a flop, while Sony released the Playstation and made billions.

I would tell you to do some research, but its your lack of research that lets you live in your made up world, and Im sure that makes you happy.

edit: I just did what you sig says, and I got this.

Sony's incredible success with the PlayStation started with Nintendo's need for a custom sound chip for the SNES. Rival companies Sega and NEC had already moved on to CD based game consoles, as opposed to Nintendo's dependency on cartridge based systems. But Nintendo had no intention of falling behind, and started researhing the possibilities for a CD add-on for the SNES. Sony was given the task, and went on to develop two different units. One was a 16-bit add-on for the SNES, that would sit underneath the system and allow CD based games. The other product became a stand-alone unit.

Because of disagreements between the two companies over who would have the right to license the technology to other parties, Sony was dropped from the project. Instead, Nintendo turned to Philips.

However, Ken Kutaragi, who had worked on the 'SNES Playstation' project and the sound chip for the SNES (the Sony SPC700), did not want to see the project go into the bin. He approached then Sony president Norio Ogha, and got permission to continue the development of the stand-alone console without Nintendo being involved. The project continued and grew, and eventually the Sony Computer Entertainment Division was formed. In October 1991, Sony announced their console dubbed 'Playstation' at the Tokyo International Electronics Show.

The original concept would have played SNES games as well as educational CD software. But Ken Kutaragi had other plans, and reinvented the Playstation. He created a 32-bit console from scratch, that was simple, powerful and easy to write programs for. The PlayStation was launched in 1994, selling more than any other console in video game history.

There is still some confusion as to who actually owns the rights for the PlayStation name, as this was also the name used internally while developing the Sony add-on to the SNES (which never made it to market).

Maybe you should read this? Because it says exactly what I just said.

OT: Dude, only a couple days of sales were in these weeks numbers. Next week you can repost this with some credability.

I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

This space Reserved for the Nuggets of Wisdom dropped by Bladeforce:

"Why post something like this when all it will get is PS3 owners blinded to reality replying? BOTH THE PS3 AND BLUE-RAY WILL NOT LAST 3 YEARS! TECHNOLOGY CHANGED TOO FAST!"

"is it Wii FIt that has sold as many as PS3's sold? Thats a LOL Look at the total sales of software is it just me that sees Nintendo titles hitting 10m+ and you say they arent making a difference? Another LOL!"

"Hell, with all the negative hype Sony spin, people just aren't interested cost is too high and to get the true HD experience (1080p, 7.1 surround) you will need a $1000+ system. THAT IS GOING TO DO IT IN A RECESSION! PS4 will not happen"

you made the thread too early, wait next week data then you can comment about price drop etc.

Japan Next week at least give a boost to 10K or 20K from previous week
NA number will be 30K higher than current.

also i don't think LBP & R2 will moving system.

Pricecuts are temporary, people won't be buying them like hotcakes later on. They only buy them when they lower the prices and within a few weeks, it slows down and down... to its normal level.

You think a $50 pricecut on a game console with no hardrive will boost its sales? wtf? Where's the motion controller? I do agree it has a very good game library, no doubt about that. Thats the only reason people would be buying it. Just don't forget, PS3 is only in its second year, you think Xbox 360 had a good gaming library its second year? No I don't think so. It wasn't selling as great its second year compared to the PS3. Also the whole DVD format war, another advantage to the PS3.

Just don't keep bragging about your game library and the new games coming out. Ps3 has comparable games coming out this fall, if not better than the 360.

If Sony decide to do another surprise pricecut, and release of Home, 360 fanboys will go nuts. But i don't think they will do either this year. Again, pricecut is only temporary. It won't drive a system to become a winner. If it did, you guys would be saying it will beat Wii too now that its lower than the Wii right? wrong.

Wii first, PS3 second, Xbox 360 third. (estimated to be around mid or end of year 2009). Wait at least a month after the pricecut, then we will see if Xbox 360 is walking or just doing the talking.

i swear i thought this was an rock_on thread !!!
where is he anyway ?? and why do u have his avatar??

Why is anyone stating that the 360 price cut had little effect? The VGChartz numbers for NA are for sales through 9/6... that's one day after the price cut.

Unless someone knows what the 360 sales have been like for the first week, then perhaps we should wait until they're posted before making claims about the effect of the price cut.

you need to practise your reading comprehension. Let me take a few choice quotes:

"Nintendo ditched Sony with little explanation or warning to pursue what they felt was the better format, Cartridges."

"Because of disagreements between the two companies over who would have the right to license the technology to other parties, Sony was dropped from the project."

"Maybe you should read this? Because it says exactly what I just said."

You should "do your research" a bit better in the future, because you just contradicted yourself with your own evidence. Nintendo dropped Sony over licensing issues to do with the technology (and also the games that were to be released on it), not because Nintendo wanted to stick with cartriges.

Write a well written fleshed out argument, then at the end say "lolz sony suzx nub! lolol!" and you'll get a 2 page response everytime.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

lol. Next week will make this thread fun.
