Forums - Microsoft Discussion - MS confirms next generaion console in development

could be under my TV. Depending what all my friends get. I will most likely get PS4 (depending on price), so we'll see how it goes. In 2011/2012 i'll be 19/20 so basically i'll be busy with post-secondary school.

thanx for the news buddy
i'm sure that there are some that didn't read that before -me included-,
i wonder if thier new console will get the "blu-ray" drive

I suspect that the XBox successor won't have a built-in optical drive at all: new games will be download-only. They might offer an external DVD drive for backward-compatibility, though.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

It depends. Broadband penetration is getting higher and higher, especially among the existing 360 fanbase. The US, where Microsoft is based, actually lags behind much of the rest of the market in this regard, but is also growing faster than anticipated even two years ago. If Microsoft times this well, they can be in well before their competitors think it's even possible.

Nice subtle troll - implying that the Wii is just a renamed GameCube. Caught ya ;) Now you get punched in the kidney and your lunch money stolen. >=)
