This week Gamestop Managers had a press conference.  They got to see an updated build of Resistance 2, Street Fighter IV arcade sticks, and play tons of exclusive games.  A poster on Neogaf who is a manager at Gamestop has commented on the updated build of Resistance 2 and claims it looks better than Gears 2!

*Remember all the polish in R2 has not been put in, the game will look magnitudes better than this build.

very different pace as compared to standard Resistance. the level occurs in a bog-ish forest with lots of jumping out, cloaked enemies, as opposed to wave after wave after wave. the up-close AI (i forget the word Price used) is a really cool concept when lent to an enemy like these. pretty freaky stuff. everything blows up really nice and it's up there with the best looking stuff so far. i haven't been following r2 closely so i don't know if the weapons were new or anything.

I'd compare it to a CoD4 or 5. Looks less plastic-y than GoW; the lighting looks more organic to me as well. (keep in mind tho i PLAYED GoW2 and just WATCHED R2) not necessarily BETTER, but I liked it visually more."

I played Gears of War 2, and in my PAX impressions thread said I was unimpressed visually.  It looks good, but not mind blowing.  I'm not the only one it seems.

This is great news for PS3 fans and fans of Resistance.

Insomniac has said on the Full Moon Show there is a lot more polish to be put in, and it will look amazing when its finally out. There will be crow to be eaten. PS3 showing its muscle XD.

Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't the original sold over 3 million?? R2 doesn't even need to double the original's sales to reach 5 million.

You are right. RFOM has sold on 3 million copies worldwide. So R2 should be able to sell twice the sales of RFOM

My bad, but I still don't think it has the potential for 5 million, considering the first game got there by being heavily bundled and the only decent PS3 game at the launch.

I'm glad the visuals are improving. I don't think the GeoW2 comparison is relevant. Hopefully we will see these visuals in some gameplay video soon.
