To inform you, the 360 will have a big shipment on 11th. Seems M$ need to make sure they send more 360's to Japan regularly now. Seems to me Price cut is in tie with the big shipment.

Thanks for the information.  The 360 moved 860 units in Japan last week.  I hope that shipment isn't too big.

It seems that it's a large shipment - Microsoft has had 3 weeks to send new units to Japan. Why do you hope the shipment isn't too big? Afraid that it may start selling well, and beat out the inferior PS3?

Careful... Those could be crow eating words..

What does MS have to lose in Japan? nothing really.. yeah they spent millions in marketing to promote the product and they've succeeded in surpassing the original, but really they only have one way to go.. and that is UP!

So even if the sales only go up for a couple weeks and die down again MS will be exactly where it was before... on the other hand if the 360 does gain momentum, which I admit is rather slim, posts like yours will be quoted for weeks.

All I'm saying is never say never, if we've learned anything this generation is that anything can happen!

360 fanboys -  "360 Japan Domination Starts.... ", PS3 fanboys -  "World Wide Domination Starts...."

Both can dream right??

The 360 will likely see increased sales in Japan after the week, but like you said, the chances of any real momentum are slim. And yes, the 360 has surpassed the Xbox, and it achieved that quite a while ago. But Microsoft had to spend so much money doing it, and I seriously doubt they're making money on each 360 hardware sold in Japan (especially when there has just been ANOTHER price drop).

As for hopes and dreams, none of them will come true this generation unless you're Nintendo (or you set your standards fairly low).

Onimusha: Was it really necessary to quote such a huge conversation just to add your sarcastic little quip? The PSP is successful in Japan, which makes sense since it's a handheld. I wasn't even pointing out the PSP's success so much as the fact that at least Sony still has one viable console in Japan, whereas Microsoft has none. Or you could ignore that and look towards the battle between the PS3 and 360, but it's barely significant enough to matter.

I don't know about that.. I would like to point out the following things that where deemed impossible

- GTA exclusive DLC on the 360
- FFXIII port for the 360
- Star Ocean 4 Exclusive to the 360
- 360 outselling the PS3 in Japan (twice!)
- 360 selling out in Japan
- Japanese developer support

Anyways, like I said, this generation is full of surprises, and I can't wait to see what 2009 brings!

Just for the fact that Microsoft hasnt given up on Japan after nearly 7 years shows commitment! Microsoft said that Office took 10 years for it to become popular in Japan and now its number 1 over there.

my this thread is interesting. Stick is all alone.

Amazing I make 1 anti-Sony comment, and get jumped on, yet everyone gets upset when I argue the same comment being made in the MS forums, against MS. This isn't the Sony forum, BTW. Hypocrisy FTW!

Also, I'm not understanding the whole "consoles are dead in Japan" argument. In 2007, consoles were down 5% from 2002 which was the same, equal, year in Japan last generation, and this year is trending toward the same.

LOL grats on playing the victim.

you're nothing but a worthless troll and deep down inside you know it. just look at your yearly console sales predicitions you're incredibly low on everything but the 360 and you're wayyyyyyyyyyyy too high on that. all of your 2007 predictions were horribly wrong and some of your 2008 predictions are already wrong and its only september. you fail.

the 360 is twice as dead in japan as the ps3, who cares if it sells 20k after the pricecut, it means nothing in the long run.

yes it means something,  and same to you,  this is not ps3 forum.

LBP flop thread, and everybody is a troll , :)

next week the number for Japan still >4K but <8K.

but week 3, number will be > 20K, where PS3 number still at magical 6K-8K.

price cut + IU + TOV, then timed exclusive of TLR, where TLR PS3 version still long way to go (usual Unrea engine 3 problem on PS3 strike again), then Star Ocean 4 x360 exclusive.

As far as I and most of this site is concerned, stickball is a contributing member, while this being the first time I've ever seen you post, you call names and make idiotic claims. Nice to meet you.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Ok... it's moving consoles.... just how many???

4 ≈ One

but ff13 is not being release in japan on the x360 anyway
momentum dies after IU which probably is just one week bump.

star ocean 4 again 1 week bump then baco to sub 5000 sales.
and a month later around 1000.

You guys are delusional if you think anything will change in Japan for the 360. Sony has done nothing and M$ has hit them with nearly every mega bomb in thier aresenal and they still are't sellin any 360s the thing has been out nearly 3 years now and has not sold a million.

PS3 sales suck as well but Sony isn't trying as hard as Microsoft has less games and still sells way more.

The Wii is doing phenomenal IMO but if a HD console is going to reign in Japan it will not be a 360.
