Forums - Gaming Discussion - Guitar Hero cant live on

That's just my opinion, honestly I have spent endless hours jamming on that piece of insane plastic goodness of all that is glory, but it gets so damn boring, incredibly boring, it was so exciting at first but it just dies down, this is the case with everyone I know,
Insane fun at first, lasts a long time, you get your moneys worth, but then it gets boring to play like any game if you play it to much, but the difference is, if this were say Final Fantasy, we'd still buy the next one because we know it will be new, completely new and exciting, how exciting can the next Guitar Hero be? or the next one after that? (They said 1 new game per year at least)

Have there or are there going to be drastic changes with the Guitar to make it challenging and exciting all over again?

I'm guessing so to attract it's installed base from it's 2nd series.

The way I see it is GH1 sold alot, GH2 sold even more and everyone who was ever gonna buy the game bought it with the 2nd, how many of these people will go out and buy the 3rd if it's the same anonymous 5 buttons but this time to a bunch of new songs and maybe an enhanced multi-player.

Please fill me on if more buttons has been announced or anything like that, but if it's anything close to the same as GH2 I don't really think it could take off as well as GH2.

Let alone GH4, GH5, etc etc....

it wont live on because one of these times youll buy the game and just keep buying new songs over and over again

They said the same thing about Pokemon games and well...

I dunno about you, but for me the best part of GH is learning new songs. The more songs you have available, the better you can get at the game. I often find if I'm stuck on a particular song, if I go play 5-10 different songs and come back to it, I can nail it. My brain wants MORE GH CONTENT. I eat this stuff up like it's laced with crack.

Prepare to be surprised when you see Guitar Hero 3 sales this fall.

My Website

End of 2008 totals: Wii 42m, 360 24m, PS3 18.5m (made Jan. 4, 2008)

Of course Guitar Hero wont live on

That is why Harmonix SOLD the IP to Activision/Neversoft.

They killed it with GH2, and will replace it with rock band

There will never be another great guitar hero game, Rock Band has replaced it.

XBOX LIVE Gamertag: QuantumTarntno

Crackdown - Enchanted Arms - Oblivion - Samurai Warriors 2 - GRAW - GRAW2 -Lost Planet - Guitar Hero 2 - Star Trek Legacy - Double Agent - WWE 2007

Wii 4237-4425-6442-7626

Mario Party 8 - Rayman Raving Rabbids - Excite Truck - Zelda: Twilight Princess - Godfather - Wii Play

Rock Band is too expensive to take its place though and too niche to have the same wide of appeal. It require multiple people to play a full ensamble instead of just one player. Regardless technicalities, it can't do as well as Guitar Hero. It might live on like DDR, but most likely will be a fad, making peoples buy new songs is a rip off and a short lived gimmick I assure you.

End of 2007 Predictions:

Wii =18m

360=14m

PS3=7m

DS=64m

PSP=30m

It might sell more since people have already invested in the guitars.

I'm guessing they would need to add something else though, besides just new songs.

Maybe 3 or 4 player games?

Continued support through downloadable content should keep the series healthy.

PS360 ftw!

Currently playing..........

Gears of War 2, GTA IV Lost and Damned, Little Big Planet (Yes I said I had no interest but my girl wanted to try it and we did and now Im hooked )

Each instrument in Rock Band is its own fully featured game (except bass guitar).  You don't NEED 4 people to play each instrument, you only need 1, yourself, and the game will cover the other parts.  And if you have 2 friends, you can play 2 instruments and the game will cover the leftovers.

Rock band is literally 4 times the game GH3 is.

Witty signature here...

Wii: 14 million by January  I sold myself short

360: 13 million by January I sold microsoft short, but not as bad as Nintendo.

PS3: 6 million by January. If it approaches 8 mil i'll eat crow  Mnn Crow is yummy.

With these results, I've determined that I suck at long term predictions, and will not long term predict anything ever again. Thus spaketh Crono.

don't you need to buy them altogether though? How does that work?
