Nintendo is going back to their Family Computer and Nintendo Entertainment System roots. Of course they never really left that idea behind although sometimes it seemed they forgot. Today they pretty much announced that they were interested in selling more consoles and games. Lots more. They did that through showing off games that people will enjoy playing and devices that will supplement that enjoyment. Nintendo (and Sony and Microsoft) will judge the success or failure of "E3" by looking at the bottom line. That's what I heard and if anyone tells you different they're a GD liar.

The Wii Board is guaranteed to sell out for forever (or until hell freezes over, or they make a better one). It will sell at least five to every nursing home in North America, Japan and Europe. People will be buying them for their parents to try and get them to move around some more (even the Sony and Microsoft fanboys will buy them). It will be used in successful FPS's, sports games, rhythm/dance games (duh), a new Mario Party and a ton more. It will be used by doctors, physical therapists, sports trainers and dietitians.

Nintendo's self stated demographic has always been "E" for EveryOne. It seems like they've stumbled onto the winning formula again and caught the big one. Well, they know how to ride that wave.

Don't get me wrong. Wii Fit is a great workout thing for home. Atleast a lot better and fun than those things you see on the commercials. But as a gamer I dont really care about this. This thing is meant for my mom not for me....

Exactly. I think DDR is a better workout for gamers. For non-gamers the DDR has exercise modes.

You need to think more like a gamer.

What do you mean by that? DDR is an actual game.

You don't have to use the board for things you don't like. For example, playing WiiFit on WiiBoard.

There will be games develope for it. I am sure some kind of surfing game will be released within the first 6 months of WiiBoard release.

It's true Nintendo opened up the market for people never played and/or interested in gaming. That doesn't stop you from using those tools for your gaming needs.

As for the DDR mat, that was a simple redirection of input/buttons. There's really not much else you can do with it.

The WiiBoard is different. I'll just let you use your imagination on what you can use/do with the board.

We'll see, but DDR is still a better exercise game.

I think it's funny that I got attacked for posting the rumor of PS2 waggle (apparently posted before by ckmlb) because it would be a new controller, and yet Nintendo announces not 1 but 3 new controllers.

I'd like someone to explain to me the advantage of a board that you stand on versus the Eye Toy that can track movement in your entire body.

Someone tell me what is better about casually named "Zapper" when compared to the Guncon 3 that has tracking with 2 sensors and 2 analogs (besides the color, even though I prefer color to gray anyway).

First you got "attacked", that's too harsh, firmly disagreed with is better, for saying the PS2 wagglewand was going to beat the Wii as I recall not so much because it was a new controller.  However, the reasons why many think it would be a stupid idea were covered in your thread so I won't repeat them here.

Second, where were Nintendo's 3 new controllers?  I saw 1 new controller and 2 controllers shells.  Controller shells do not a controller make however.  As near as I can tell neither of those shells will be required for any games anyways so if someone doesn't like them they don't have to use them.

Third, the eye toy and wii board are different so they can't really be compared except where certain input is required.  I think I'd much rather play that marble game with the wii board, either would probably work alright for the hoola hoop or soccer ball game, and I can imagine the eye toy would be better for other stretching or say jumping jacks games.  I do think it could be said that the wii board is more accurate than the eye toy when being used in the manner it is meant to be.  That's not to say the wii board is necessarily better overall of course.  Again though their entirely different input methods (weight vs video motion capure) means both can excel in ways the other doesn't.

Fourth, about the Guncon 3.  Did some one say the zapper was better technically?  I couldn't find what the Guncon 3 costs, but if it's more expensive than $20 than that's one reason the Zapper is better.  The Zapper is an add on controller shell designed to give you another way to experience shooting games not a peripheral that requires dedicated games (although it could be used as such I imagine).  I know that I wouldn't buy something like the Guncon that I could only use for a couple games I'm not interested in but the Zapper for $20 and Duck Hunt, or whatever it's coming with, is a definite purchase since it could be used with a lot of games.  Both of those are likely to lead to far more Zapper sales and more games with dedicated options to use it than for the Guncon.  Also, I can't' be certain without trying both but I suppose an IR gun could be better than a light gun but again I don't know.

Might be for most people.  Isn't for me since I can't jump due to my bad hip but I'm not the market.  As galaki touched on though the Wii board could become another innovative way to add control features to regular games in a way the DDR pad never could.  Admittedly, for it to be fully utilized 3rd parties are really going to have to start thinking about more than just adding more polys to their games so I'm not too optimistic about that at the moment.  At any rate, the most important thing is that Wii Fit will outsell every DDR ever made by a wide margin.  Probably in its first quarter.

Hello everybody, long time reader, first time I got my account to work to post here.

The multiplayer in Galaxy will be like the multiplayer in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, in that the second player just kinda messes around and helps out when they can. It's basically a 1.5 player game. You can stun enemies or even stun Mario if you were so inclined.

I had no idea you already tried out Wii Fitness and the board peripheral to dole out such a categorical statement...
