Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Helix 1 and 2 player review

I've played it two days so far and while that isn't enough to be a qualified expert I can say that my wife and I have had a lot of fun with the game for $10 even at the 2 day mark.

The first thing about the game is it takes a bit to get used to, but once you start to dance to the rhythm and to the moves its really fun.  The first day we played for 30 minutes and traded sides with the Wiimotes to keep our arms from getting too tired on one side (I played about 20 minutes before that getting used to it).  The second day we played 45 minutes and used hand weights in the hands without Wiimotes.  I can say with out doubt that on medium and higher you get a workout with this game.

I would say two player is the most fun but playing with people watching is pretty fun as well.  The music is great and the sound quality is very good.  So far I have been just mildly sore from playing, but we have stuck to the lower difficulty for the most part.  We tried hard and were both breathing hard after one song.

Well my wife and I are still playing Helix and it is an amazing workout at the higher levels. We've been paying for 45 minutes every other day and it’s like a Tae Bo workout for crying out loud.

If you want a cheap Wiifit this is your game.

The problem with hard is that the robot is moving several moves ahead of you, so even if your body could keep up, your mind breaks from trying to store four moves a second in short term memory while processing more incoming data and feeding instructions to your limbs. It's kinda stupid, really.

I haven't tried playing the suggested two player mode. Swapping around profiles is easy so I find it better to just take a break and pass control over to the next person. Works seamlessly if you have four remotes.

This game is a bargain if you like rhythm games and exercise, that's for sure.

I need to buy my own copy. I bought it for my ex-girlfriend but only played for a short time. It was fun.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

The hard mode is getting much easier now. Although I admit there is probably some memorization that I don't realize I'm doing there is usually a pattern to most the songs. There are a few sections with a bunch of different fast and slow moves that can get nuts if you loose your place. The good thing is even on hard it gives you a pause here and there to regroup.

I only have 2 more songs to unlock :).

Not too many people seem to be playing this, but if your wife or girlfriend isn’t into video games it’s a great way to workout and have fun together while getting them used to the idea of playing video games.

Its crazy, but it seems like the two player mode is actually easier on hard than single player. My wife and I have been playing the same sides and we are a little better than I can play alone. Granted most of my play time has been two players so maybe my right hand has gotten lazy.

You can open all the songs without beating most of the hard versions which is nice. I think I have about half of the hard versions of the songs beat. The weird thing is how much the difficulty varies between hard and medium. Some of the medium songs feel like hard and some of the hard songs feel like medium. I don’t know what to call the very difficult hard songs except extreme.

Once again if you haven’t tried it for $10 it’s a lot of fun and a good workout at the same time. Pretty good party game as well although I’ve only used it for that purpose once so far.
