Forums - Sony Discussion - Killzone 2 to feature four-player co-op campaign?

A recent hands on preview posted by PlayStation World UK editor Ian Dean has hinted that Guerilla Games’ upcoming shooter Killzone 2 will feature four-player campaign co-op.

The company has already confirmed that a post-launch patch will add co-op play to Killzone 2, though it was unclear as to how many players would be supported and whether it would be offline or online only.

"And then there’s the four-player co-op campaign to look forward to. Now that really could be something special," wrote Dean.

Killzone 2 is set to release February 2009 and a mutliplayer beta for press is expected to launch sometime later this year. Stay tuned to PSU.com for more information as we've contacted Sony for official confirmation

That would be great.

That would be nice. Co-op is a must these days. I don't know how COD4 got away with it...

^It's because Co-op wasn't necessary in the CoD4 story, or rather it didn't fit logically into certain sequences (most notably the end and a certain seen in the middle east).

I get the feeling this'll be very disjointed and Halo 1 and 2-esque where there were two masterchiefs running around.

Unless it's a separate campaign, this'll surely mean Resistance will overshadow this game. (seeing as how insomniac took the time to make a separate multiplayer campaign).

By being better than any of the FPSs that have it.

4 player co-op? Sounds like they are pulling out all the stops with this one

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

Better online multiplayer sure...

Single player I don't think so. It was intense don't get me wrong but one playthrough and I was finished with that games single player. I still play 4 player Halo 3  campaign every few weeks. Must find those skulls...

So coop won't be included in the original release of the game and patched on post release... and then maybe 4 player coop at some later point?

I was confused by that as well...

This is one of those games (along with R2) that I think makes the PS3 library (IMO!!) reach critical mass, so I'm keeping a close eye on it.

To anyone who plays a lot of multiplayer games on the PSN, how frequently are mics used?  My experience with Gears and Halo is that effective teams communicate well and would think if the AI in KZ2 is good, it would be necessary here as well.  Sorry if that's a bit off topic.

By making the best single-player campaign ever instead of adding tons of features that are used by a minority? COOP for a FPS is a bit silly unless you have a campaign that has teams all the time.
