Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Sending my Wii in, got questions!

Well, my Wii has a hard time reading discs. Damn near impossible to read some games (MLB Power Pros takes 5 tries, at least). It's been like this since a couple weeks after launch, but I never sent it in since I always had games to play.

Then this summer I haven't touched my Wii, and there's nothing out until 2009 that I want, so I figure this is the perfect time to send it in to get fixed.

So a few questions, some b/c I dont wanna read the user license, some legit ones:

1) How long is the waranty? I got mine last June, so it's been over a year. If not covered, how much would this run me?

2) Does Nintendo ship you a prepaid box with an address on it, or do you have to go down to the post office and mail it? How much did it cost you to ship yours?

3) How quick do they get it back to you? Not that this really matters for me, but it's just peace of mind.

4) Just out of curiosity, has this happened to anyone else? My 64 still works so I have decent faith in Nintendo hardware, but...

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure if you say it won't load Brawl, they'll fix it for free.

This I'm not sure on.

I've heard it was rather quick.

The only piece of Nintendo hardware that has broken on me was my launch GCN.

Thanks in advance.

1) You should be covered. I got mine Christmas '06, and it still covered me when I sent it in 2 weeks ago.
2) You get the shipping label via e-mail, but you have to provide your own box. I think it cost me $5, but I dunno.
3) It took me a week, but that's because I live in the same state as the repair shop, so my estimate is 6-11 buisness days.
4)Yes, 3 weeks ago

Yeah RCTjunkie, I originally posted this in your thread, but you ignored me

And that's why I posted this. Haha maybe I should've just pmed you.

Oh well, thanks a lot! I guess I'll be calling Nintendo tomorrow.

If you register your Wii on Nintendo.com, it extends your warranty by 3 months which means it should last you until...well the rest of this month, then.

1. Mine was over a year and a half old and it was still free

2. They send you a prepaid fedex label by email. You just need a box and to drop it off.

3. Got mine back in less than a week.

4. Yes

Customer service was outstanding for me.

It was past my warranty but still completely free. Plus extremely quick turnaround.

The "past warranty" bit speaks volumes about Nintendo, and I'm really relieved I wont have to pay to have my Wii fixed.

Thanks for all the responses. I was originally like, ah fuckshit I gotta deal with customer service, but it sounds like not nearly the pain I thought it'd be.

AWW! I'm sorry. :(

Maybe Nintendo a Capella will make you happier.
