It is definitely not a choice and anybody who thinks it is has to ask themselves why anybody would choose to be part of a minority that is subject to discrimination, assbeatings, occasional murder, and "separate but equal" rights.

It's not a gene either.

It's a natural process that occurs in some pregnancies due to the communication/transfer of hormones in the womb.

I hope you all have gay kids.

It is a choice though Rubang, in that we're all bi, and some people are just too scared to enjoy all that life has to offer.

Silly monosexuals.

Wrong. I have absolutely no sexual desire in any way to have any type of sexual interaction with a man. As you can tell from my many posts on homosexuality I am definitely no homophobic and have absolutely no malintent towards homosexual or bi people, but, I also have no sexual affection towards males.

The chances of being 100% straight or 100% gay are both equally tiny.

We're all bi, but to different degrees.  You're most likely 99% straight and 10% gay or something.  Don't worry about it.

Besides, how else would everybody turn gay without other options?  I'm talking sailors, pirates, coalminers, cowboys, prison inmates, prospectors, ranchers, soldiers, any time you have 100% men in an area.  People don't just stop fucking for years at a time and wait for women to appear.

We are not all bi, but to a different degree. What about asexuals...are they chopped liver?

No, I would just be happy that I would be having a child, I dont care what he does in his life a long as he's happy.

That's not a choice.  I'm straight, and if I choose to fuck a dude, that doesn't mean I'm gay.  That means I'm a straight dude who decided for some reason to fuck a dude one time.

Sexuality is determined by your romantic desire, not by your physical actions.

You're right.  Desire is a very important element in the entire argument and is probably more important than the choices you make sexually.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I liked this debate the first time around.

First, to answer the O.P., no. No matter how my kid(s) turn(s) out, s/he (they) will be accepted by me.

Second. Being gay is a choice. We are all bi, to an extend, but there is no absolute straight or absolute gay men or women, I believe it's all a spectrum, and can change depending on experiences early on in life and such. I'd say that most people are 99% straight and 1% gay. Or for the homophobes, 99.999999999999% straight and 0.00000000000001% gay.

I do think that more people are close to the extremes, but there are plenty of people in the middle and such. I have a sixth sense for sniffing out homosexuals (I've been on the money on more than a few occasions), and there are many people who are, but supress it. If I were, I wouldn't supress it cause I believe that you shouldn't fake who you are.

Wow. That is the ultimate question for conservatives who hate both gays and abortion. It will be interesting to read the responses in this thread.

No. I'll raise my child no different that I would raise him/her not knowing if he/she will be more attracted to males/females.

I also disagree with thoughts of a gay gene.

Homosexuality is a choice

It's more of a mental state of mind. It's not a genetic flaw.

Like being straight, it's in your head, pre-determined if you will, what your orientation is. At least, that's what I believe.

1. If i were a woman,i think it would be very unlikely that i'd abort cause of this reason. But i am not.So i don't think i as male human being should decide what the other 50% of humanity have to do and what not.
2.A gene should indicates if you are becoming gay,bi or straight?
This idea sounds rather amusing and very simplifying for my ears.
It is more likely that extreme complex socialization processes are responsible for the majority of someones personalty facets including the sexual preferences.
