So, I should ignore the thread just like those watching Amazon ignore reality?

Gotcha.

I just was trying to be a voice of reason, not wanting people to get their hopes up, especially since it's now being outsold by a fricking nunchuck. I mean, those things must be flying off shelves, eh?

PS3 being outsold by the 20 dollar controller of a system with a much larger install base.... what do you think?

Doesn't matter what I think, apparently. What matters is that Amazon is a good indicator of sales, yes?

You made it sound like the nunchuks aren't selling which is ridiculous. You think the 20 dollar Nunchuk of the most popular game console right now isn't selling well? Seriously think about it for one second.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

What the hell is your problem?

Yes, amazon is good for some sales indicators. It is good for looking at relative sales compared to other items. If 300 on blu-ray is always in the top 10 (and top 5 lately), then it's selling better than any other blu-ray movie. If the PS3 remains #1 it is selling very well.

You are no "voice of reason," so no, it doesn't matter what you think.

If you think this thread is pointless, don't post in it. I ignored the stupid (to me) elimination threads.

It's good for relative sales on amazon only. That's what I'm saying.  If the PS3 was actually doing well, this silly watch wouldn't be taking place.

I don't recall saying the thread was pointless. It's kind of funny now, actually. I never thought I'd get blasted for saying Amazon is irrelevant when it's been proven many times. Go figure.

Dolla you have to remember that Amazon is the largest online retailer in the world. If they have product x selling better on day y that would means sales of product z would be up not just on amazon but on other online sites and at B&M stores.

Anyways for today's numbers.

1. PS3
2. SixAxix
9. BR Remote
24. Resistance Fall of Man
47. NCAA Football 08
52. Memory Card Adapter
57. Ninja Gaiden Sigma
67. The Darkness
72. RB6: Vegas
75. Madden 08
80. Oblivion
89. Lair

My whole argument is against this. Because it's number one on Amazon does not mean it is doing well on other online sites, and it definitely doesn't prove it's doing well in Brick and Mortar stores either. That's why I'm saying Amazon is irrelevant.

Amazon obviously doesn't have an ample supply of Wiis, so it is selling less than the PS3. The majority of stores in NA don't have ample supply of the Wii, so does that mean the PS3 is outselling the Wii in NA? No, it doesn't.

I have no problem conceding that right now the PS3 is outselling the Wii and the 360 on Amazon. Top sellers proves it. My argument is simply that this doesn't translate to the PS3 selling well elsewhere. That's all.

Edit: To add to this argument, on Amazon the PS3 outsells the Wii, PS2, PSP, and even the DS Lite. This doesn't translate well across the board at all.

Actually, my post was saying that it is usually an indicator of how it is selling everywhere else.  I am not saying amazon is the perfect indicator but it is certainly a lot more useful than your trolling complaints say it is.

I fail to see how I am trolling by saying it isn't a good indicator.

Your trolling because nobody here has been talking very much about numbers outside of Amazon.  Leo made a comment that PS3 sales had increased by the largest percentage over the past week, which was true.  People in this thread have been observing amazon.com numbers and have not made overly large generalizations about the rest of the market, simply stating that amazon is a good indicator that PS3 sales have picked up and there is a good chance they won't flatline back to previous numbers.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Exactly.  And one person saying 10 times it isn't a good indicator doesn't add much.

Very well. Since the OP considers such behavior trolling, I'll leave you to it. I'll guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on some points, although I'm hardly the only person who has said the same thing about Amazon's relevancy. It would be nice to think the PS3 has picked up huge amounts of steam, I just don't think Amazon is an indicator. And that's that. Enjoy your thread.
