Forums - Sales Discussion - Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings will be huge

I am so hyped about this game, I think it is going to be massive in Japan when released on April 26, 2007. The game will be directed and plotted by Motomu Toriyama, who also directed Final Fantasy X-2 and Final Fantasy XIII. According to Toriyama, the game is aimed at Nintendo DS owners who are not experienced with Final Fantasy games, and will remove "overly complicated elements from the battle system...that will allow (the player) to defeat the enemies with minimal controls." Like with Final Fantasy X-2, the airship will be available to the player as soon as the game starts. The game will feature a sprite-based graphics engine with prerendered backgrounds and character designs by Ryuma Itou (Final Fantasy Tactics Advance). Revenant Wings tells the story of Vaan and Panelo, two of the main characters from FFXII. Vaan is 18 years old in the game, and has just fulfilled his dream of getting his own airship. He keeps himself free of politics and family life and travels around as a sky pirate. The 17-year-old Panelo serves as his navigator. Together they fly across the land, seeking adventure. Preliminary reports on the battle system have indicated that the game will have a modified version of Final Fantasy XII's Active Dimension Battle system; however, it can be played entirely with the stylus. Like in Final Fantasy XII, battles initiate once the party comes in contact with the enemy, and the characters will attack automatically. The player will be given the option to use the stylus to give commands to the characters by tapping on them with the stylus. It will be possible to change their target, set gambits, use various abilities, and more. Area spells can be cast by drawing a rectangle around the enemy with the stylus. Espers will return in Revenant Wings and will have a larger role than in Final Fantasy XII; Toriyama has said Revenant Wings will have more summons than any previous Final Fantasy game. Characters ● Vaan: A boy who achieved his dreams by becoming a sky pirate. ● Penelo: A girl who travels with Vaan. ● Kytes ● Tomaj ● Filo ● Ba'Gamnan: Survived the Nam-Yensa incident and attempted to get revenge; Joined the group. ● Balthier: A sky pirate and owner of the Strahl. ● Fran: Balthier's partner, a member of the Viera race. ● Basch: A man who spends his life in servitude. ● Nono ● Llyud: A 20-year old young warrior of the winged Aegyl race Trailer: (HOT HOT HOT)

Buy it and pray to the gods of Sigs: Naznatips!

I am really looking forward to this game as well - really going to push the boundaries of what a DS RPG can be like :)

Am I the only one that is less excited about FFXIII and FFXII:RW after reading the above line. FFX-2 is one of my least favorite FF games. FFX-2 had a Matrix Revolutions affect on me i.e. it was so bad that I can't even play FFX any longer.

And things like that as for why I dont want to buy it. I hated X. The only FF I disliked more than X, was X-2. That makes me wonder if XIII will be good. And it also tells me not to buy XII:RW

FFX was great. Though FFX-2 was alright.

You don't think it will be good, try it first and then decide, and if you don't want to. Wait for it, gamerankings reviews.

If you think I am bashing Nintendo. Notice the XIII.

I did notice the XIII, that's why I said to wait for the reviews. Your judging too early.

What? You've become paranoid... like, a little man is sitting on your shoulder whispering to you about militant Nintendo fanboys raiding your home... Dudes, Nintendo bashes itself enough for everyone. The Wii? I've heard people say, "It's for retards, babies, and grannies!!!" I happen to know several retarded persons who prefer the PS3, and don't care for the Wii much at all. Big N knows that it's being met with skepticism (though it's less and less met each day), and that's what they were planning on. It doesn't matter if a select group of gamers avidly dislike their approach. They're still winning out with quite a few people.
