IMO, it makes no economic sense at all for KH to be system exclusive. It seems pretty clear that the most profit lies in multi-platform releases for third parties. What third party system exclusives are even close to the sales of Guitar Hero, CoD4, GTAIV, etc.?

Metal Gear Solid 4

Halo 3

Resistence

Gears of War

Exclusives can make big bucks too.....

Only MGS4 is a third party game. MGS4 will be lucky to make 5 million sales. GHIII, CoD4 and GTAIV are all over 10+ million sales. A 5 million sale difference is $300 million in revenue. That kind of money talks, LOUDLY.

Are you telling me that SE/Disney are going to pass on hundreds of millions of dollars?

Oh yeah.....the GTA series on PS2 and Gran Turismo every generation say hi when it comes to exclusives selling big. Hell, even Halo sold 8+ million.

Maybe SE does a version with Disney for HD consoles and then does a Nintendo-themed KH-like game for the Wii. Think of it as the Subspace Emissary (which is at heart a the Kirby platform game) crossed with FF.

This will never happen EVER.

I will say this was dreaming. However, people said FF would never leave Nintendo and would never be on the Xbox 360. So saying NEVER is dangerous for videogames.

PS -- Back to the OP: I still wonder about OPM's track record with rumors.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

of course, it could rock more on Wii, but it's ok, i can buy it for Ps3 as well, but please no X360 cause i don't own one, and it won't be good to get one just for 1 game.... :P

Do people with an 360 even want the game I wonder? I can only see PS3 and Wii owners here. ;o

Yeah, I'm kind of late to the party, but yeah, I got a 360.

I'm pretty positive that this game is not going to 360, and I believe it's a choice between Wii and PS3.

I would prefer this game come to PS3, as I plan on purchasing a PS3 later on once the games start rollin' in.

And the Wii doesn't have much games I'd like to play so it would be a pretty big bummer to get a Wii for a few games including KH3

This argument keeps coming up. So let's take a seond and use your strategy of all 3rd party games becoming multiplatform. Then the only differentiation between the consoles is the 1st party, which would result in:

Sony 1st place

Nintendo a close 2nd (I'm sorry, but the overuse of Mario everywhere isn't going to carry them)

and M$ a distant 3rd.

But I don't think you like that analysis

Take a look at the top selling franchises of all time for each. It's not even a contest.

It doesn't really matter anyways as far a a third party is concerned. It's about money, not fanboyism.

Going to an HD system, remember it's SE.

Woah, 3 pages of wishful thinking.

Oh well, back to castle crashing.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

This game is a loooooooong way off people.
Btw, the rumour also claims this game IS in development right now

“Kingdom Hearts III is CURRENTLY in development as a PS3 exclusive and will be announced at TGS.”

360 IS OPERATIONAL AFTER 37 DAYS!

Even if this is announced, by the time it is released, Soriku will be older than Hugh Hefner.

I don't care about KH3 right now. Too much back and forth speculation.

Can somebody actually confirm OPM's rumor track record? If not, just end things here.

Nomura is a huge Ps3 fanboy
He's always loved the playstation brand, he's had so much success with it. This game will probably come out for Ps3, using Crystal Tools, and any development lessons learned from Versus XIII

Doesn't matter. The director doesn't decide where the game goes. Nomura has little influence where the games goes, only Disney and the SE higher ups decide.

Hideo Kojima has full control over his ip's, that's why it's a PS3 exclusive. Same with Nomura and KHIII.

Say what? No he doesn't. Say Kojima left Konami for example, Konami would have full control over the IPs. The reason MGS4 is PS3 exclusive is because Konami as a whole believe it can't be done on the 360.

If you want proof that Nomura doesn't own KH or whatever, here's the copyright straight fom the KH site saying Disney owns the IP:

© Disney Enterprises, Inc.

Developed by SQUARE ENIX.

© Disney. Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas © Touchstone Pictures. Developed by SQUARE ENIX. Characters from FINAL FANTASY video game series: © 1990, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2005 Square Enix Co., Ltd. All Rights Reserved. SQUARE ENIX and the SQUARE ENIX logo are trademarks of Square Enix Co., Ltd.

Let's not get into this argument, shall we?

This might mean that they have control over their characters and how they're potrayed. Disney doesn't make the games.

OK, let me compare this to...Level 5 and SE with DQ.

DQ IX is being made by Level 5, but SE owns the IP. SE (or Disney in this case) is the MAIN decider of the game becuase they own the IP. Unlike with DQ though, SE have soem say but Disney makes the final decision. The director of a company that doesn't own the IP can't do SQUAT.

I agree with what you're saying but it's not the same situation. SE just outsources and has Level-5 make DQ. KH is more of a collaborative effort between the two parties: SE and Disney. Disney doesn't make the games, so more control over the ip is in SE's hands. It's not just a Disney game with only Disney characters.

Actually...the game is PRIMARILY a Disney game. Sora, Riku, Kairi, Keyblades, Org XIII, Namine, all the worlds, are DISNEY OWNED. EVERYTHING IS DISNEY OWNED . The ONLY things Disney DON'T own are the FF characters, and they're not originally part of the KH series anyway, they're JUST cameos.

But square develops the game...........

Duh...I never said they didn't have say where it goes since it's a collaboration, but Disney has the most say.

Dude, seriously, stop while your ahead. If this thing is announced as PS3 exclusive you will have just dug a giant hole for everyone to bury you in.

I do have to admit with the number of blind Wii fanboi posts stating in no uncertain terms that KH is now a Wii franchise all over this site, I laughed reading the article. Personally I think its what people get for backing one console and going out of their way to hate all other consoles.

I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

"Why post something like this when all it will get is PS3 owners blinded to reality replying? BOTH THE PS3 AND BLUE-RAY WILL NOT LAST 3 YEARS! TECHNOLOGY CHANGED TOO FAST!"

"is it Wii FIt that has sold as many as PS3's sold? Thats a LOL Look at the total sales of software is it just me that sees Nintendo titles hitting 10m+ and you say they arent making a difference? Another LOL!"

"Hell, with all the negative hype Sony spin, people just aren't interested cost is too high and to get the true HD experience (1080p, 7.1 surround) you will need a $1000+ system. THAT IS GOING TO DO IT IN A RECESSION! PS4 will not happen"

Last Generation I would agree with you.

You are totally right with your business perspective but didn't the last years showed us that the devs are not following the business logic that you and me have?

If I said in 2005.  The X360 will have a lot of Great EXCLUSIVE  Franchise JRPG's.  I am sure members would laugh with me and that Austrian guy would make a 'Boycott Beer stellabelg is the proof why you shouldn't drink beer thread'.

Does it make sense to make Exclusive JRPG's on X360? And we are not talking about small games and small devs. SE made an Exclusive JRPG for X360, Star Ocean 4 is Exclusive on X360 (and that is not really a small franchise), Sakaguchi, Nobuo worked on two exclusive games for X360......That all make sense from a business perspective?

Two years ago you would probably said ' Are you telling me that SE/TRI Ace are going to pass on millions of dollars with releasing Star Ocean IV on X360 EXCLUSIVE?   And I would totally agree with you but SE/Tri Ace didn't followed the sense from a Business perspective why Would Disney and SE would do it?
