Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How will the next generation go?

I predict the next Sony console to be Sony's last. Nintendo will stay on top, and Microsoft will get a big slice of the "hardcore" gamers.

Next generation could go either way.

Sony could get its act together and learn from the PS3's mistakes (there are some, believe me). RE-build it's software lineup and try to keep it that way in the process could earn SOny another generational victory similiar to the PS1/2.

Nintendo could continue to innovate with the Wii formula or spice things up and do something completely different to counter similar next gen offerings to the Wii from the competition, once again making the offerings from the competitor look obsolete.

The 360 had a chance to be the best console ever BUT due to unfortunate mistakes (we all know what they are) had pretty much scarred it for the rest of the generation. Now if Microsoft were to launch a new console that's stronger overall than the PS3 earlier (about a year before Sony's next console) while building up it's software library in the process with very reliable HW and SW then Microsoft could probably finish Sony and Nintendo off.

The next generation of video games could go either way.

Generation 8 Predictions so far.....(as of 9/2013)

Everyone of the companies will have a shot.

Their stratagies are unknown; along with the most important part, the console.
I can't see how people think they know.

It really depends on the strategies each of the companies uses to produce their next console ...

If the generation becomes an "Evolutionary" upgrade on the current generation Nintendo will have a massive advantage because of their position in this generation. If Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo try to push a more "Revolutionary" upgrade it could the market will change in unpredictable manner (at this point in time); it is possible that a "Revolutionary" upgrade could be successful like the Wii, or a failure like the Virtual Boy.

Wishful thinking?????????????????????? Sony is here to stay. Anyway, I predict Apple or EA to knock Nintendo out of the mix with their casual goodies.

The next generation is largely unpredictable at this point.

Nintendo has changed the rules. Better to let this generation run it's course for a while before trying to guess the next.

When Nintendo goes gaming stagnats and is the same with blood and violence, there will always be demand for Maro and Zelda and the like. The more serious question is can Shiggy even die and if so what would happen then.

I think that 'wishful thinking' applies to both of you.. Every company tries to widen their market so anybody who says that going after the casual market will kill Nintendo are dreaming.

Also a solid argument for why the next Playstation will be the last would be good too..
