Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How many of you are loosing interest in the Wii

I'm losing interest in my Wii as well. I actually am selling it now to help fund a recently bought PC. That's not to say that there isn't enough games coming out for it, it's just that I have more systems than I have ever had for any generation and I simply don't have time to play them all... so I just cut out the one I figured I'd miss the least.

I'm sure I'll miss playing Dawn of the New World and Fragile and I still love playing Mario Kart Wii but right now it's receiving the least of my time and interest.

I initially bought my Wii for Fire Emblem (and wasn't disappointed) and I'll be kicking myself if another one were to reach the system. But I think the next one is scheduled for the DS? Am I right in saying that?

Ha! I have that situation too >.> Last gen I couldn't afford much and only had GC and GBA, this gen I have DS, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360 and have more games than I can play. I'm not going to sell any, but if I did sell one it would be DS- I am keeping it around for the occasional "big game" (this year thats guitar hero DS, Advance wars days of ruin and chrono trigger DS) and in hopes of smash bros DS and NSMB2. Also, whenever I go on road trips its fun to play mario kart and tetris with my friends.

Fire embelm... I don't think they will make another, but the first came out so early they easily could. Keep a DS around for fire emblem though, I am sure america will get at least one. I could never sell my Wii becuase I play smash too much- and I am looking forward to Pikmin 3!!

'I'm not tired of the Wii because I still have to play these 2 year old games!' Obviously you don't play games very often and your opinion isn't applicable to this thread.

So the only opinions that matter are the ones from people who don't have a life? :P

I know some of the going has been slow for the Wii, but still, I can't believe people are stupid enough to just sell the system so soon. I paid $250 and dry spell or not, I'm going to stick it out and see what's next. Especially when you consider that there is an awful lot coming down the pipes as the "Upcoming Wii Games" thread shows.

The only system I ever sold was my original Playstation, and that was becuase I rarely played it and because I was in a financial crunch at the time. I later got another Playstation for free.

Somehow I doubt all these people saying the Wii has no mroe good games have actually even bothered playing many of the good ones. I may be playing other systems a bit more lately (mostly classics that I'm buying new stuff for), but I still flooded the Wii with 11 or 12 disk-based titles and 16 downloaded (one Wii Ware). That's much more in a much shorter time period than I ever supported a console before.

What, do you expect to be playing it 20 hours a day and if you're not, then the system is crap? EVERY console I've ever purchased has had highs and lows--periods of near constant use and periods of non-use. I haven't played the DS, SNES, or Dreamcast lately, but that doesn't mean they suck or that I'm going to up and sell them.

Here's the other thing, the Wii hasn't even been out for two years yet. It seems pretty stupid to give up on it so quickly, especially considering how well it's selling and how many higher quality 3rd party games are in the works. But hey, if you want to miss out on The Conduit, MadWorld, House of the Dead Overkill, Arc Rise Fantasia, Fragile, and all these VC and Wii Ware games, I guess that's up to you. But then, don't complain about not having enough to play. You're the one that chose to ignore what was there.

Again, I'm not saying the Wii has the best selection right now, it's still going through the early learning stages that the DS struggled through. And like the DS, starting around the 2-year mark, things are going to be improving big time. But while the Wii doesn't have the best selection, it also doesn't have the worst there's ever been. There's a lot of quality titles on the system if you just open your fucking eyes.

Go ahead and sell it if you want to. Someone less naive will get to enjoy MadWorld, Star Wars Battlefront III, The Conduit, and Spore.

Sorry if this sounds a bit pissy, but shouldn't these kind of foolish threads be dying off by now? I mean, the thread starter is considering selling the Wii and indicates being a long-time Nintendo supporter. So that means he supported the no-game N64 and the half-assed-port-flooded GameCube through worse, but a successful console like the Wii just isn't worth his time. Gimme a break. "There are no new games out right now for the Wii." Well shit, genius, aside from Soul Calibur IV and MGS4, there hasn't been a whole helluva lot going on with the other guys this summer either.

I'll put it like this, I've had the Wii for a little over a year and I have 12 regular games, 15 VC games, and a Wii Ware title. If you have fewer games than I do (and I'm poor), then you shouldn't be complaining about the "lack of games on the Wii so I don't use it enough," because it's your own narrow-mindedness that prevents you from playing everything that's good and getting use out of your Wii.

Did you consider that it may be a matter of taste as apposed to being naive.  Is it wrong to want a wider selection of titles other then mini game compilations.  I am not denying that there are good games for the Wii, what I'm arguing is there very little selection of games for me and no matter how good a game is, eventually you will tire of it.  If I'm reading news posts correctly then it appears the third party trend isn't going to change anytime soon.

Oh and just because a system is suggcessful does not mean I must like it.  I couldn't care less if the Wii outsells the PS3/260 10-1, the fact that I am finding less and less games which appeal to me isn't going to change that.

For the record, I do like the N64 more then the Wii.  I like the Wii more then the Gamecube.

"narrow-mindedness" - Of course, what else can it be?

@Mr. Y

I would be interested to know how much each poster in this thread plays games. I am so beyond boredom with the Wii, but I guess I fall into that still-haven't-played every-game-I-want-in-the-last-year category.

Two-four hours a week.

it is to be exoected that core gamers are going to be playing the Wii less and less with fewer high quality core games coming to that console. it is a very hard time to be just a Wii owner at the moment in my opinion.

looking for the new mario and zelda, i really do hope the new zelda is going to be crap though because i dont want to buy a console just for like 1 game. or maybe 2

By the way, this is a great comment: "I hope a game I would normally love is bad so I don't have to buy it."

I own a Wii but this is the first time I have purchased a non Nintendo console as well. I really enjoyed games like Excite Truck, Trauma Center, Zelda, and Metroid. After playing these games I had high hopes for it. I couldn't wait for boxing, golf, RPGs... games I wouldn't normally be interested in, however, all great things come to an end and I'm finding myself playing the Wii less and less.

Granted, games like Mario Galaxy, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and Metal of Honor: Heroes 2 are awesome but I think the quality of other titles has plummeted overall. This is not the case with Nintendo made games as they are clearly getting better but third party games are generally getting worse in graphics and in controls... SSX Blur, Godfather, Need for Speed, Elebits and Red Steal blow away most of what's out there right now and those are launch titles.

I'm not Wii bashing because I hate it, I just wish companies would put adequate effort into their Wii projects (note the keyword here is adequate).

Is anyone else playing Wii less and less? Is anyone considering selling their system? I'm not at the stage of selling mine but most of my friends already have. It's really sad because although my friends are more into Playstation they bought a Wii first for the same reasons I did (sports, something different) but even though we have different tastes, we all agree that the reason for loosing interest in the Wii is its lack of quality third party offerings.

I am in the same boat. Prior to this gen, the only systmes I had were Nintendo systmes (NES, SNES, N4, GC, GB, GB pocket, GB color, GB advance, GB advance SP)

Now, for whatever reason I have lost almost all interest in the DS. It was new and exciting at the time, but I find I like traditional handheld controls better. For traditinal games, PSP is a better fit, and I rarely play DS games now.

I am not bored of the Wii. HOWEVER all my favoirte Wii games allow me to use the GC controller, and I do. The only thing I find great about the Wii is the pointer functinality, and I am hopeful that the next Xbox will have a pointer- this would make many games, especailly FPS games, more intuative.

I am playing Wii less and less, but I have not lost interest. This fall I plan to get ToS and Super Paper Mario- both can use the GC controller hopefully. However, I have about 8 360 games I would like to get. For DS I want schrono trigger and Kirby Super Star ultra, while there are about 12 PSP games I want to get (10 of which are laready out)

My thinking exactly, however, I was more intreged by the controller... in fact I refuse to play any Wii game with the GC controller because of the different experience. Although I still do, I guess I got my hopes up because I thought the system would be perfect for golf and boxing - expected something to be realeased soon after and am still waiting two years later. I haven't completely lost interest as there are some games I want to check out like Tiger Woods 09. Not sure if it's 1:1. But like I said, I have been playing less and less.

Also, just about every title that catches my eye on TV has one thing missing (Wii).

Yeah, I was expecting something along the liunes of Wii motion plus when the console launched and was soerly dissapointed. I am thinking motion plus will make for a couple FANTASTIC 1st party Ninteod games, but overall will be too late becuase not everyone will have it and 3rd parties will have to support both, or just normal controls and therefore won't optimize wii motion plus or make the advanced motions nessicary for gameplay. I am counting on Sony to steal Nintendo's tech and make it better- then Nintendo will slightly improve Sony's copy, and make better (but fewer games)... until Nintendo innovates again and wins. Or at least thats the pattern I am seeing.

The other probelm I have with Wii I got this expensive HDTV for Xmas and Wii games don't look a whole lot better- HDTV is a big reason why I bought a 360, since I don't have cable or Blu-Ray either.

I expected it after playing WiiSports.  I know WiiSports isn't 1:1 but it does simulate it decently especially when you get into it.  Something like that but more in depth.  LOL I hope MS steals the Wiimote idea... my PS3 buddies want one too :)

My 360 looks great on SDTV to me.  Wii graphics never bothered me but I haven't seem it on an HDTV.

I lost interest in my Wii a long time ago when I traded it in for my PS3 Metal Gear bundle. I owned almost every first party title, several GC games and about 15 VC games and I still got bored of it. My 360 and PS3 see a lot more use, especially since they do other things besides games as well. I use them for video from my PC to TV, music through my 5.1 system, DVDs, Blu Ray, etc...
My Wii sat for at least 3-4 months not being touched.

"If you don't like me, bite me!"

if you are not interested in future wii titles and played all the good wii games then sell the thing.

i didn't get bored with the wii yet thanks to mario kart wii, that's the only game i play on it right now since i beat almost all the good games, but i plan on getting many games in the next few months
