or I'll just see it as someone who has an opinion. I think yer analyzing too much into this. But if you'd like to just discount his post as viral marketing feel free.

...

Me, Thanks to lack of time and the DS.

How is it possible to loose interest when things keep gettin' better and better on the 3rd party side?

Just look at this: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?start=0&id=39727

There are so many great titles comin', plus all the Nintendo stuff and the 3rd party stuff we still don't know...

Wii's future looks very bright, except if you're blind, of course...

His post has every watermark of the viral marketing used against the Wii. Let me point them out for you.

"I couldn't wait for boxing, golf, RPGs... games I wouldn't normally be interested in, however, all great things come to an end and I'm finding myself playing the Wii less and less."

Harping on a perceived lack of variety in genres, a favorite target.

"Granted, games like Mario Galaxy, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and Metal of Honor: Heroes 2 are awesome but I think the quality of other titles has plummeted overall."

Implying Wii games will only get worse. Not even subtle.

"This is not the case with Nintendo made games as they are clearly getting better but third party games are generally getting worse in graphics and in controls..."

Do I really need to point out that this is one of those "Only Nintendo profits on Nintendo systems" plugs, AND that it has "third parties don't sell on Wii" mixed in?

"SSX Blur, Godfather, Need for Speed, Elebits and Red Steal blow away most of what's out there right now and those are launch titles."

Again with the "Wii games suck" argument, this time claiming that only launch titles are any good.

"I'm not Wii bashing because I hate it, I just wish companies would put adequate effort into their Wii projects (note the keyword here is adequate)."

This line appears in all of them: the excuse for why they're doing it, to make you ignore what they actually said.

"Is anyone else playing Wii less and less? Is anyone considering selling their system? I'm not at the stage of selling mine but most of my friends already have."

The "everybody's doing it, why don't you?" peer pressure tactic.

"It's really sad because although my friends are more into Playstation they bought a Wii first for the same reasons I did (sports, something different) but even though we have different tastes, we all agree that the reason for loosing interest in the Wii is its lack of quality third party offerings."

A pro-PlayStation name drop in the midst of an otherwise starkly anti-Wii post, offered up as though it's an alternative.

Viral marketing is not about what they say they say, it's about what they actually say. Look closely and you'll spot it for what it is.

wow...just wow, the paranoia is overwhelming. I dont think you understand what a gaming FORUM is intended for...but its threads like this......im astonished. Communicate and discuss things with gaming owners.

Your post demonstrates how people on the internet can be creepy.

I own a Wii but this is the first time I have purchased a non Nintendo console as well.  I really enjoyed games like Excite Truck, Trauma Center, Zelda, and Metroid.  After playing these games I had high hopes for it.  I couldn't wait for boxing, golf, RPGs... games I wouldn't normally be interested in, however, all great things come to an end and I'm finding myself playing the Wii less and less.

What kind of third party offerings? It would help people help you if you're specific on which genres you are interested in because then they could quote from that ever growing list of anticipated Wii games.

Tease.

I actually can't find the time to play all of the games for Wii right now...

I've just beaten Okami, and now I'm working on Mario Kart Wii. Titles such as Umbrella Chronicles, Super Paper Mario, and Endless Ocean have gone unbeaten. It's not that they're bad games, It's just that I can't find the time between school and activities to play the titles.

Ummm... so I guess what I'm trying to say is no, I'm not losing interest in my Wii.

to be honest the third party support is much higher than its been in the past

Something about this topic is off. People don't normally write essays in forums about how they're going to ditch a video game system. What is the point, after all? If you're actually dissatisfied, you stop playing. There's no need to go tell the world exactly why you quit. And if you do, you usually just say what made you quit, instead of name-dropping a half-dozen games.

Viral marketing? I think so. I propose a topic lock.

I thought I was clear as to the reason I'm loosing interest, however, I'll fix the viral marketing aspect of it.

I am watching you!

One does not insert the most popular anti-Wii sentiments into a post by accident. Nor does one try to distract readers from it with an excuse if it wasn't done on purpose. Paranoia is seeing what isn't there. Being observant is seeing what is there even when somebody tries to hide it.
