Forums - General Discussion - Putin says US caused conflict in georgia to help a presidential candidate

I thought this immediately. If anything, from experience its well known that a state that has support from a powerful ally often will over extend its own powers due to the defensive capability it has. Israel would be one example.

Dk how much the US contributed but Dana is not very credible in her little press conferences is she.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

It shouldn't be... the other southern caucus states are pissed about it because Georgia was their only way to get to the western countries.

Russia's illegal and iladvised invasion has cost them needed economic growth.

Hell the southern Caucuas states are only friendly with Russia because they're afraid the Russians will invade them again.  Look at what the Russians did in Armenia and Azerbaijan.  Now THAT was a henious thing.  They fought on both sides.  Not one side, then switched to the other.... but jumped back and forth to make sure both sides were weakened.

Unless they mean like... China.  Which it's obvious why the Chinese would refuse to do so.

The only countries likely to agree with Russia anytime soon are Iran and... maybe Serbia as a "vengence" move but even then probably not since that would blow any tenous claims they still have to Kosovo..

It doesn't sound really all that strange

Cuba i get.  But Venezuala while it hates the US i'd think would be agaisnt it because of their hopes to create a "Greater Venzuala" and fix the one failure of the "South American George Washington"

@Kasz216
"Look at what the Russians did in Armenia and Azerbaijan"

Here you can details? WTF you talking about?

United States wants Georgia to join NATO. Why? I have no idea, the Cold War is over. Problem is that Georgia can not join NATO with seperatists states liek South Ossetia and Azbhekia in their territory, so they have to let them have their independence (something the Ossetians and Azbhekians voted for) or destroy the seperatist movement altogether. Georgia went with plan B, and got whipped by Russia for doing so.

Why is the West upset at Russia, when Russia actually took the good guy stance on this one? Simply because they are opposed to Russia. Russia wanted unity in Serbia and Kosovo (something many other European nations wanted) while the United States pushed for their indepenece, now a similar seperatist state wants independence and the United States is ignoring them and crimes against them just to get at Russia.

And how is defending South Ossetia any worse than the United States in Iraq? Consistency please, either you think its okay to invade other countries for political reasons or you dont, but you cant have them both.
