Forums - Gaming Discussion - No More Heroes

I remember a previous interview where it was stated No More Heroes would have less violence than Killer 7, so that it could appeal to a wider audience. Most likely a teen rating. But in a recent interview with Goichi Suda he stated, "I'll also try my best to make No More Heroes as violent, or even more violent than Manhunt 2!" This could possibly mean another adult rated game for Wii, the other being Manhunt. I both agree and disagree with this idea. Getting adult games such as Manhunt 2, and possibly No More Heroes and Sadness would get rid of the idea that Nintendo only allows kiddy games on their systems, but I don't really see a good reason to put that much emphasis on violence in No More Heroes. I don't think the violence will work with the animation style that well. Why do you think Suda decided to go the violent way? I should also note that these are all 3rd party developers- good job Nintendo. The whole interview can be found here: http://wii.ign.com/articles/765/765721p1.html

That is kind of his thing. Killer 7 was highly styalized and violent. No More heroes looks a touch less styalized, but will probably be similar in atmoshpere.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Yeah, I guess it is his thing, but if it is too violent wouldn't he be limiting the game to who could play it. I mean I'll still be able to get it, but no 15 year olds allowed. Not that the rating stopped them from getting GTA, but the kind of violence he wants could turn people away.

Unlike GTA, I respect the makers of Killer 7 and No More Heroes. It's so stylized and unique...Killer 7 anyway, and the violence is just part of the game. If he wants to make the game more suitable to adults...more power to him...there's a lot of adult Wii owners. Extremely violent games aren't usually my cup of tea, but this looks amazing, and some of favorite games were quite violent, like Resident Evil 4.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Can't argue with that. Go Suda, let me slaughter some bastards with a Star Wars geek. I don't think that idea will ever lose it's comedy to me.

I can't wait for this game but I just read that they will "hardly" use the remote, a far cry from the talks of detecting whether you do an upper slash or a lower slash just a few monts a go.

This game may not be as over the top as killer 7, but it still has a killer art style.

What about Driver, Godfather, and Scarface? They'll be adult titles, and there also coming to the Wii. personally I was excited about No more Heroes, but this really turns me off, I'm 29 so it's not an age thing, I'm just not into the gore and violence, I'm perfectly happy with the way people died in Red Steel(I'm not refering to the poor animations, just the fact that there was no gore.) I wouldn't mind a little blood as there would obviously be some, But I don't see the attraction to games like Manhunt. And while I understand they have a market I just don't get why people pretend that just because a games has excess violence it helps broaden the market toward adults. Last time I checked adults weren't watching slasher horror films, teenagers were. Adults just want a mature story line, something, anything with some meat or depth to it, and many of the games with violence don't even provide that.

fooflexible, your right about teens buying the adult games. I even mentioned it before. The problem is many adults will only go by what they hear about a system. If they hear Nintendo only releases games for kids, I doubt they will want to run out a get one of their systems. With a bunch of adult games released for Wii the child image will be shattered. Then adults will go out and buy the real adult games like Sadness. I also don't think you should disregard your hype for the Heroes game just because it will be violent now. I don't like violence either, but Suda won't just spew the violence out as the best part of the game. You said you were interested in it before, why? Whatever the reasons I'm sure there still going to be included in the game. The violence is something were going to have to deal with, we are adults after all.

I'm actually buying this for the art style, and character design. The focus on violence is a non-issue for me.
