Japan, the PS2 was at the same point of life at 3 million sold. PS3 has not passed 1 million.
USA, PS2 above 3 millions, PS3 1.5 millions.

PS3 could easily keep up with PS2, if it had the same price.
what will a $100 price cut get me? hm...an extra game controller with no rumble ($49.99+tax)...and then not enough cash for a game. nice! personally, i wouldn't have cared between a 20gig and 60gig. dropping a 60gig to the price of a 20gig, i'd rather pay 399 for a 20 gig.

I think it was a bad idea for Sony to drop the price so quickly, especially in America. Not only does it look desperate, but they don't have the games to back it up. They should have waited until GTA or something like that. I don't see this having almost any long term effect, and the short term effect isn't going to be spectacular either.

I don't think I have ever stated that PS3 couldn't keep up with PS2 if they had the same price. I am just pointing out that the truth is that Sony isn't always starting slow.
