Forums - Gaming Discussion - Do you know what... I hate guitar hero

i hate sim games and i consider guitar hero a sim game, go out and play real guitar, football, basketball, do your laundry. I play games to escape from reality

I hate that game, too. I'm okay at it but it's just impossible for me to get into. It doesn't feel much like a game to me, more like button coordination. I think it's the emphasis on doing something by rote rather than exploring a game and learning its ins and outs.

And while I have the floor for loved games that I don't like I just want to say F*** OKAMI. I rented it and yeah it's basically Zelda-esque. But you know what? I hate Zelda, too. Even if I loved it there's only room for 1 Zelda every 5 years as it's just a massive undertaking usually.

There, I said it--I love a lot of Nintendo stuff but I hate Zelda.

And I'm glad Okami is dead, apparently I'm not the only one since it sold like ass on both systems. Hopefully we can finally put that little Special Olympics runner to rest so it's rabid fan base of 3 people will find something else to champion.

Wow, that felt good. Glad I got that off my chest.

I'll admit that I'm not good at keyboard games (ie, any game in which i have to actually change how my hand is positioned on the controls, hence guitar hero gets pushed into this category) I find it to feel clumsy and I feel disconnected from the game.

Ultimately, i like rhythm games. I can do some serious damage when it comes to eleite beat agents, DDR, Ouendan, other various stuff, but I just generally don't like Guitar Hero. I was never affected by the "I wanna be a rock star" syndrome, and I like SOME of the music at best from any of the games I have seen.

I can hardly say it's bad. I'm sure it's good at what it does (ie, let people get their rockstar fix without actually having to learn a real instrument) but it's just not a control type i enjoy, and it doesn't have enough musical appeal for me to be willing to sick with it to learn.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

Currently wrapped up in: Half Life, Portal, and User Created Source Mods
Games I want: (Wii)Mario Kart, Okami, Bully, Conduit,  No More Heroes 2 (GC) Eternal Darkness, Killer7, (PS2) Ico, God of War1&2, Legacy of Kain: SR2&Defiance

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

mad offensive man.  not about okami itself, i don't really care one way or the other about that game.  but i'm sure there has to be more appropriate metaphor for a game that you want people to shut up about.

OT: i also don't understand guitar hero so much.  i mean, i enjoy rhythm and dance games, but the prices and amount of plastic that guitar hero and rock band come bundled with is almost criminal.  the number of iterations is also ridiculous... shouldn't DLC keep the number of versions down a tad?

i prefer um jammer lammy
guitar hero is bad :P

What do you prefer? Pay 60$ for 45+ songs, or pay 45+ songs that range from $0.99 to $2.99? Sure, you may have more choice with the DLC, but you can clearly see the better deal here...

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Well, I don't think that full price for the "full" game is fair.  They clearly don't spend too much time making these iterations, so why pay full price for them.  I can understand World Tour being $60, but GT:Aerosmith?? C'mon, that is extortion on Activision's side.

You can clearly see an advancement in Aerosmith. They made the hammer-ons a bit better than they were before, and the note patterns make a lot more sense now. Also, the multiplayer options are a bit more fair for everyone (when you pick a difficulty, it's that same difficulty for everyone, not Easy VS Expert and stuff).

If you didn't play the game, don't say anything about it. My two cents! =P

Looks like someone got picked last in gym class dodgeball.

OT: I don't mind playing it, but more often then not when I am playing it whoever is best at the game takes the controller and doesn't let anyone else play because they have to show off their skills.  Guitar hogs, I hate them!

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

Those alterations didn't change the game too much.  Aerosmith felt more like a expasion pack, and it should have been priced so.  If activision hadn't tweaked the game a bit, it would have simply been a track volume at full price.

I admit I haven't sat down with any individual version of the game and mastered the gameplay, but I've played around with II, III, and Aerosmith with friends, and it never felt worth it for me.
