Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft E3 Predictions...

Wii - the only issue is that between Kameo and Viva Pinata, Rare has shown their kid-friendly prowess hasn't left them one bit. Both games were perfect, and great examples that Rare hasn't left it.

IMO, the issue with PD0 was the fact it lacked ambition. It really didn't try to change and advance the formula, it just had better graphics, and nothing else.

Whereas Kameo and Viva Pinata were just amazing, and leads me to believe that BK3 will be phenominal.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Around the Network

1) Yes.  $100 by Xmas.

2) Yes.  Both Mass Effect and Lost Odyssey before Xmas.

3) No.  I like the Zune comment from Casuality.

4) Yes.  MGS is gone finally and officially...

5) Yes.  All are far enough along.

6) What about Alan Wake (Remedy has been really quiet for a long time) and Too Human (Dennis D. said Chapter 1 went to ESRB for rating) ship date / quarter?

The cool keyboard add-on ship date.  (Out There Comment: And with it Browser support through the XB blades to make surfing with the XBox a reality)

Rare will be big with BK3, then Perfect Dark or Kameo and a Viva Pinata sequel.  BK3 will shipfor Xmas this year.

Unveiling of the new Bungie IP (unrelated to Halo universe) for Microsoft Game Studios.

Two new Microsoft Game Studio game announcements that haven't been heard of or seen yet in addition to Bungie announcement.

New Shadowrun maps and enhanced single player.

Another major Gears of War update and maps.  And annoucement of GoW for Xmas 2009.  Maybe even a teaser...

Really out there comment: Microsoft will also announce the purchase of a major studio or publisher...  Maybe Atari as they would be cheap and are stuggling and Microsoft's cash could turn them around as they have ideas but no means to execute.  And the Atari name could be associated to future family content as it is a popular name among adults that have kids.

What is Microsoft going to announce to counter the momentum that Wii has (New controller or interactive add-on... More family friendly content... Maybe something totally new to go after the casual / non-typical-gamer market)?

What are they going to announce to go after the Japanese market more (Lost Odyssey is old news, Maybe a demoable Infinite Undiscovery or a bunch of new stuff altogether to change course)?

I also assume there will be more announcements about XBLA expansions much like the 3 new Sierra games stuff on Team XBox's site.

What about All Points Bulletin from Realtime Worlds?  I assume Microsoft will publish it as was Crackdown.  And a Crackdown 2 announcement.  Expect MMO to be a major theme for XBox through XBox Live.

Good Things for XBox from 3rd Party:

Expect many and big 3rd party family-oriented announcements.

I think Lucas Arts, Ubisoft, Sega, and EA will show a larger than expected commitment XBox 360.

Saints Row 2 showings.

The Grand Theft Auto IV content that MS paid $50 Million for will be elaborated on.  Expect some awesome new features for GTA on XBox.  Maybe taking advantage of Live fully to make it more a MMO on 360?  $50 Million is far too much just for basic content.

1. Will Microsoft announce a price cut at E3?  Odds are greater every day.  It's been over a year and a half since the 360 launched and MS doesn't like being seen as a follower.  If Sony is dropping the PS3's price, MS must drop the price for the 360.  A $500 60GB PS3 is a much better value than a $480 Elite or $400 Premium.  Since the MS keynote is before Sony's, MS may try to steal some of Sony's thunder by dropping the price of the 360 first Tuesday night.

2. Will Mass Effect and Lost Odyssey be given dates for this year in North America?  Maybe.  But they're not important to the grand scheme of things at the moment.  There are much more important things in the near term like Halo 3, GTA IV, etc.

3. Will Microsoft announce a hand held gaming device?  No.  They have enough other things going on right now.

4. Will MS steal a major exclusive from Sony at this E3? If so, which?  Just one?  Not sure which one(s) though.

5. Will Banjo Threeie, Fable 2 and Halo Wars be shown at E3?  Yes, yes, and no.

6. Any surprises from MS during E3, outside of these?  There's always something extra that no one suspects.  Not sure what that might be.  That's why it's called a surprise. :P  (I'll throw out a huge rumor that probably won't happen for fun -- Xbox Live goes free for everyone.)
