Forums - Sony Discussion - my ps3 has died

some reason whenever a ps3 breaks, its because of cod4. check the forumns, ps3 owners whose consoles have died always say that they were playing cod4 and it happened.

SONY made an announcement about this problem and they said it is the hard drive that causes this problem....corrupt files on the hard drive that makes the system not start up....try taking out the hard drive from your PS3 and format it with your pc or take out the hard drive from your PS3 and try starting the ps3 up

how the hell a green/blue led turned white?
exorcism that ps3!

360 IS OPERATIONAL AFTER 37 DAYS!

Please lock this thread Mods. I see this is a flamebait/ troll thread. Ps3 fans will not be happy hearing about this and some will obviously want to question the legitinacy of the OP's claim.

That stinks...Well on the bright side you have a unique PS3 since it has white lights....

Former something....

Look up how you do a complete system restart. I dont particularly remember how you do this. But theres a way to do a more thorough Reset on the system, if that doesnt work, take the HDD out and try starting it, if it starts fine then the HDD is dead. If it doesnt start up then call sony and RMA that baby.

I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

This space Reserved for the Nuggets of Wisdom dropped by Bladeforce:

"Why post something like this when all it will get is PS3 owners blinded to reality replying? BOTH THE PS3 AND BLUE-RAY WILL NOT LAST 3 YEARS! TECHNOLOGY CHANGED TOO FAST!"

"is it Wii FIt that has sold as many as PS3's sold? Thats a LOL Look at the total sales of software is it just me that sees Nintendo titles hitting 10m+ and you say they arent making a difference? Another LOL!"

"Hell, with all the negative hype Sony spin, people just aren't interested cost is too high and to get the true HD experience (1080p, 7.1 surround) you will need a $1000+ system. THAT IS GOING TO DO IT IN A RECESSION! PS4 will not happen"

Yeah my new MGS4 80GB PS3 died just 13 (unlucky) days after having it...even though no one here believed me. But after just a hair short of about 3 weeks I had the replacement in my hands from Sony, it's been working fine ever since. I guess crap happens, although today I was in my local Wally World and noticed that the Xbox 360 they had in their display had totally RRODd!!! :)

Don't worry, PS3 normally shouldn't fail. Just send it off to get a new one.
Your PS3 just had the timebomb malfunction and blew off too soon.

Good to hear you're gaming again!

Out of interest, what game were you playing (if it was a game) when it died?

@OP:

Yeah - try swap out the hard drive. with a different (notebook size SATA drive)

Windows won't let you format your PS3 drive as FAT32 though, you'll need a third party prog to do that
