It will probably clock in at less than 20 hours. Most of the time, these projections are waaay higher than they really end up. I actually hope it is 20 hours, though. I don't have time for artificial playtime extenders (leveling up, random side quests, etc.) like I used to. Give me a condensed awesome experience, and I WILL be buying this game.

Before, when I thought this game was a 100+ hour epic, I wasn't too excited. Now there's a possibility of this game being "Mass Effect sized", I want it!

20 hours is shorter than RPGs generally are but 20 hours is long enough. I liked SO3(a previous Tri-Ace game) but I felt the story did get a little drawn out in the middle. However, since IU will only be 20+ hours as opposed to the 40+ hours of SO3, the story won't fell drawn out like many JRPGs are.

EDIT:I also what you point out that many of the JRPGs in the SNES era including Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI were 20 hours long for one playthrough

Another 20-25 hours of awesomeness on the 360...

25 hours 2 disc game, that remind me of Grandia 3.

Yes, but unlike Grandia III, IU will have sidequests and other distractions from the main story while in Grandia III, the main story was the only thing you could do in the game.  Also, there might be some replay value in IU

Eternal Sonata I beat completely in 15hrs first play through. Got all score pieces, items I could the first time.

LO took me 90 hours to max out with DLC and 1100 achievements.

Mass Effect right at 34 hours to do every side quest & DLC.

20-25 hours seems like a good length. If that's just main story it should clock in a respectable size.

Completed X360:
High Def Movie Collection

Sounds fine to me, there's nothing wrong with an RPG that isn't 50+ hours long. Afterall, as Riachu pointed out, many of the best in the genre were under 20 hours.

Debating with fanboys, its not

25 hours is very short for a JRPG.
