LBP will not be huge.

If it follows the same line as other niche games (okami comes right to mind), extreme gamers that are found in forums will buy it and word of mouth it to other extreme gamers, but the general buying public wont know it exists.

The majority of Sony's marketing this fall is dedicated to this game. I've heard all sorts of things from this game being trailored in movie theaters, to kiosks and plushie marketing sprees, and this :

This was painted on the side of an ENTIRE building in Lepzieg.

This is the World Hobby Fair in Japan with an over 30 minute wait to play this game.

I can be an asshole and post more things to own you, but you get the idea. People will KNOW about this game. Can I get a "You totally owned that troll" - quote?

I am guessing you are one of the extreme gamers in forums I was talking about...

can anyone explain to me why ps3 beat 360 this week?

There were two catalysts responsible for the minor increase in 360 sales over the past month.

In Japan, Tales of Vesperia along with Soul Caliber IV gave the hardware an unusually high bump (still minor overall, just impressive for the 360 in Japan).

But more importantly, in the U.S., the inventory clearing sale of 20GB SKUs moved just about all remaining old stock. Now that the old stock is increasingly difficult to find at retail outlets at $299, being replaced with $349 60GB SKUs, sales are dropping back down to previous levels.

On the PS3 side, Sony has been phasing out the 40GB SKU (by ending production), but without any inventory clearing sale like last year's 60GB SKU. Result: reduction of inventory to retail outlets, coinciding with traditionally lower demand for consoles seen in August/September.

PS3 sales aren't up significantly this week; 360 sales are slightly down due to the now limited availability of those $299 20GB SKUs.

What the hell, why are you insulting me? You obviously made a troll post, an incorrect parallel, and tried to write off an innovative title which you've never played as passe.

Do you really think LBP is going to get the same or less amount of marketing as Okami? Sony is going to push this product hard.

Let it go.

I'm guessing Mr. Domino is an anonymous secondary account made by one of the more incindiary posters made for stealth trolling.

Low post count.

PS3 360 shortages.

And people waiting for the September price drops.

Slow week all around cept for the PS3. Are the 80gb models out in some parts of the US? In my area I haven't seen any of the models let alone PS3s which is odd. I always seem to either see none or a mountain full of them. 360 slowed a bit. As to why who knows. Im not so sure the price drop has been passed around to possible buyers and until it's confirmed I don't think the lower 360 sales should be attributed to it. Wish October would get here alrdy...Fable, Fallout and LBP, they all will be huge :P

I don't know where people are getting the idea of 360 shortages. Is there any evidence to back up that claim?

Console Agnostic since 2001.

Were July's numbers adjusted? They now have the ps3 selling around 282k, a bit under 60k shy of the 360.
