konnichiwa do you even pay attention? There are various benefits to being 13 compared to 16...bone structure is different before hitting puberty, and of course they're smaller and lighter...I'm sure there are other reasons as well. The reason 16 is the minimum is for safety reasons I think...the point is to prevent training children in this dangerous sport...but of course these kids train from birth practically, so whatever.
In gymnastics, a 13 year old can beat a 16 year old easily...this isn't weight-lifting or volleyball or other sports where you can be 20 or 38 and win...
And none of the Americans are under 16...it's pretty obvious.
konnichiwa, I guess I just don't understand why you're blindly defending China when this is so obvious.

I haven't thought too many people were older than they looked though. The one girl didn't even have all her adult teeth yet! I don't care THAT much, but why is it such a stretch that China put a couple 14 year olds in the games? It's pretty obvious. Maybe the rules aren't a big deal, maybe 14 year olds should be allowed to compete, but this year, they're not, so...it's breaking the rules. |
But now Tom Daily the English Olymic diver is 14, yet he's ok?
Why can England do it and not China?

Diving and swimming don't have an age limit, they're probably not deemed as unsafe as gymnastics.
Figure skating has a minimum of 15 for example...
Age limits are different for each sport. The minimum for gymnastics used to be 14, then 15, now its 16.
Yang Yun from China won a bronze in gymnastics in 2000, and then much later admitted to being 14, so I don't know why this is blowing your minds...

What there is more than one now? Kexin He and??? |
Jiang Yuyuan... other then the forsensics of course they found actual accounts that stated them in younger in other events this year.
As 13 and 14 respectivly. In a speach and a news article. Both of them the speaker and writer making weird mistakes? Seems... unlikely that both girls be the victim of some sort of typo... combined with the forensics no less.
The speach was at a competition in which only 13 and 14 year olds are aloud to compete!
It's basically a case of people who don't want to belive, not believing because they don't want to believe.
There is more then enough proof to convict someone in a court case on this.
China cheated by using underage girls. There is so much evidence it isn't even funny. There is actually an inteview out there with Yang Yun, from the Sydney 2000 Games, who admitted on camera she was 14 during the event.
Look at the girls, Linlin and Kexin haven't even grown in all their adult teeth yet. By 16, they are all fully grown in on ANY girl.
So, did the committee take any steps against China/the sporters?

China provided pasports that china issued the girls saying they were 16. According to the IOC this clears them of all suspision.
Cause they would never forge paperwork!
It's like steroids in US proffesional sports and the fact that college atheletes don't get paid anything yet the univercities make billions off their backs.
As long as the people in control lose more by exposing the corruption then they gain by keeping it queit or the story tame... the more it will stay that way.
The IOC chose China because they stupidly thought in their own hubris that they could use the olympics as a barganing trick to make China be better with human rights and get them to do things like stop supporting the genocide in the Sudan.
China of course knew once it got the olympics the IOC would never pull out since they didn't have a backup venue however and now they're just trying to keep their heads low untilt he olympics end. Any exposure or admitting of cheating would just make their decision seem like even more of a screw up.
They were trying for a peace prize and screwed up. Expect the next few olympics to be in the boring places like western europe and the US.
Ey, I would totally enjoy the OS in Amsterdam, and so would every visitor :D!
But I'm with you on the whole human right issue and the agenda the committe was pushing. Everyone knew that China and it's push for a "perfect" olympiade would increase rather then increase the amount of violations on human rights.
