The current RB drums are not velocity sensitive. They are also plastic pads which make a lot of noise and feel like crap. Both the RB2 and GH:WT drums have velocity sensitivity and rubber pads. The rubber pads will give a much better bounce and won't make that annoying clacking. The velocity sensitivity will allow each pad to create different sounds from soft taps to hard hits, without VS every hit sounds exactly the same.

However I think GH:WT drums are far superior in that it comes with included cymbal pads as well as midi expandability. The midi feature alone is enough to win me over.

And the user created content means you'll be able to get lots of extra content for free, although without vocals.

Also, you're wrong that GH:WT doesn't support BC with instruments. The older guitars will work, it just won't have the new features.

That was going to be my question.

I just had to buy a new Guitar last week and took a replacement plan for it, I would have HATED for it not to be supported in GH:WT....

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

I know Chad Smith consulted on the WT drums and I think he may actually be a character in the game.  It would seem kind of odd of if they were to turn around and sign an exclusive with RB (especially since Harmonix has said they will not sign bands to exclusives).

RB2, because at purchase I will have over 200 developer created songs to play. GHWT will be cool as well and will probably rent it.

Neversoft just doesn't seem to have the talent that Harmonix has - so even though I currently own GH3 instead of Rock band, if I do get one of the sequels it will be Rock Band 2.

rock band 2

i might get GH:WT for some overcharted hendrix

Rock Band 2 for the 360. The full BC with RB1 downloads and the ability to transfer the tracklist from the first game is awesome. Harmonix has been on the ball with delivering awesome DLC on a regular basis. I have to wait and see if Neversoft can pull of the same before I think of purchasing it. Also, if GHWT instruments are not compatible with RB2 (and vice versa) then that is the final nail in the coffin for me ever owning GHWT.

The song creation part of GHWT is great, but it sucks that you can't record vocals. Since I usually play Rock Band as a party game, singing is a fun part to have in the game. Without being able to create custom songs with vocals, that makes those songs mostly useless to me.

I give this thread a 9.7.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.

World Tour instruments will work for RB2 on both 360 and PS3, both were confirmed.  Nothing about the Wii yet but it sold the least number of copies (thanks to crappy support), so its not a huge priority is my guess.

I'm pretty sure Neversoft has also committed to weekly DLC updates in addition to a number of album debuts.  As for the editor I'm pretty sure the restriction is that you won't be able to record the audio for the part but you will be able to insert a lyrical part to the songs for someone to sing during playback.

What about the other way around?  Is Activision still being pissy and not letting RB instruments work with their games?  This is a big thing for me since I'm purchasing the new RB2 instruments and don't plan on buying a second set.  If they work for GTWT, then I might pick that up later.

I like the idea of the music creation program.  I just doubt I'll ever use it if I can't insert the vocal track.  Don't get me wrong though.  I think GTWT will be a fun game.  Even if I didn't have RB1 though, I would probably pick up RB2 over GHWT anyway.  RB2 comes with so many more available songs right out of the gate.

I give that post a 9.7.

The problem never was with Activision Profcrab. Last year the GH3 guitar worked on RB for the 360 but since the interface was new for the PS3 they didn't ship with it supported. They tried patching it in and Harmonix stated that they were definitely willing to have their guitar work on GH but Activision blocked the PS3 patch.
