Forums - Sales Discussion - The Official July NPD Thread (data for 4 weeks ending 8/2 comes @ 6:30 est)

It won't really matter if the PS3 is lower on NPD as it will just be further proof of ioi's claim of shortages, its not like the demand has suddenly collapsed (though some people would like think it has). Shortages are shortages, every console has experienced them and they are only temporary. I personally won't mind if the PS3 is lower than VGC on NPD but I doubt it will be.

It will all be sorted soon enough.

I don't even understand why there should be any spin.

ioi has implicitly stated that there are PS3 shortages. The only Sony spin will be anti-Sony spin from people who find it hard to believe.

Yours wasn't banter?  You're attacking me?  Thats just uncalled for DMeisterJ.

And PS3 sales haven't dipped (much) and exclusives are always being lost.

What has changed is the amount of Sony hate on the forums.

Seems like when a certain company has a few good weeks, and a marginal E3, somehow the tide of the console wars have changed.

Also, I have no idea how I defended PS3 in this thread.

I'd say thats very much a pre-emptive form of offensive defense.  Wouldn't you?

Though I acknowledge the truth of the bolded statement.  It is possible that there was a cataclysmic breakdown in VGC's data collaboration for the month just gone.

Exactly.

I defended after you attacked.

I didn't say anything until you bought Sony into the thread.

I only defended cuz you started it.

And you know yours wasn't banter, and that you also attacked me.

And the sarcastic comment at the end isn't neccessary.  I'm not saying anything negative about VGC's numbers.

Ahh.  But if you look closely, you'll see that I didn't attack Sony, I simply mentioned the company.  Apparently, seeing the words "starcraft" and "Sony" in the same sentence was sufficient justification for you to have a go at me.

I on the other hand, am still pursuing my banter.  Would I really criticise your faith in VGC's numbers when you have been here long enough to accrue almost 10,000 posts?

MY humble apologies.  I must have misinterpreted the following data:

09/06/08 Forum Activity vg$ 3.10
23/01/08 Ban Fine vg$ -3,000.00

That was a 3 month over-reaction by Fishyjoe, back when the VG$ system was different. I appreciate the flamebait though, and the provocation.

Ok now I'm genuinely curious.

I was under the impression you only got out of a perma-ban when the system glitched and everyone got let back in?

GAH!!!! I'm trying.

To be honest though, the whole "everybody vs starcraft" thing just feels a little too much like the good old days though.

Well your last statement in your last post did.

Also Sony and Starcraft weren't in the same sentence.

And yes you did attack Sony.

If VGChartz numbers even remotely coincide with NPD numbers the Sony damage control in this thread will be severe.

That's not "banter".

That's stealth trolling.

DMJ is definitely an oddball. He champions Sony, yet supports M$ and Ninty with his money. I'm convinced he's a big time masochist.

Forgive me.  When I said "sentence" I meant "post."  Why does the implication that Sony fans would feel the need to irrationally defend PS3 numbers reflect poorly on Sony?  Personally, I find Sony to be an incredibly flexible and innovative corporate machine.  Why would I attack them?

I was never perma banned. Fishyjoe banned me for 3 months because I made a joke post about him and he got offended, the end.
