Forums - Nintendo Discussion - 10 new Metroid Prime 3 Screens- Hot.

I played a little of the first but none of the second. It wasn't that I didn't want to play them, I just don't have Gamecube. I could buy them cheap now, but I've already got a decent backlog of games I'm trying to catch up with.

Why must people think that if a game has no multiplayer or online it's bad nowadays? True, there are some games like Gears of War that cannot survive on its single player alone (which was pretty good), but the Metroid Prime series has shown that it can survive and be fantastic with single player alone.

If MP3 did have multiplayer, I might play it a few times just to see it, but that's not why I get a Metroid Prime game. I'm perfectly happy that they decided to focus on making a Metroid game with a new control scheme super polished rather than trying to create two things at once.

If they had done both, the game would be further delayed, cost the developers a crap load more money, would have to get a larger team, split their focus, and it would just turn out to be something that wouldn't pay out for them in the end.

Right. I don't want to see MP3 compared with Halo 3 or any other FPS. No matter how good MP3's multiplayer would be, the game would always be belittled by FPS nerds.

EDIT: Hunters was bad, the worst Metroid game ever. Focus on multiplayer is not good for Metroid.

no matter how good? so you care more about what nerds think than your enjoyment of the game?.

No, we, the hardcore demographic who this game is targeted at, care a LOT more about the single player gameplay and story than about multiplayer.  If multiplayer in Metroid had to be sacrificed to make single player perfect, I will not mutter a single complaint.  If I want a multiplayer shooter, I'll go play Halo (or another of the hundreds of generic online shooters that exist).  What I and most Metroid fans want is a deep and engaging single player experience.

who said one had to be sacrificed?. its posible to have both you know.. im sure there are some fps games that have both good single and multiplayer modes.. cmon this title is supposed to revolutionize fps games.. and what other multiplayer fps game has tight controls that this game boast on having?.

I'm pretty sure that, multiplayer + metroid = slow and boring

But I don't know, Metroid Hunters had multiplayer didnt it? How good it is?

Screenshots look pretty good.

And no, you don't need to play the first two to understand...things will be explained to you very thoroughly I'm sure. That's not to say you shouldn't play the first two...you really should...perhaps after this game. Only problem is I have a feeling the first two are going to feel more boring than this game, if you can handle that.

And yeah...multiplayer would be cool...Wii is very good for getting friends together and having fun.

Online multiplayer would be even cooler...I wouldn't need to be in the same room as my friends...

But I don't really care...the first player experience definitely is more important to me. Multiplayer would be a bonus.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Like I said in my previous post, if they added multiplayer they would have to split their attention and focus.  Even with a larger team, it's still one team that is splitting their focus.  I would much rather have an incredibly highly focuses and polished single player game than a single/multiplayer game where the developers had to worry about the single player and all the worries that a new multiplayer game brings to the table.

Like I said earlier, the added effort just really wouldn't give back enough.  The people that Retro is targeting isn't looking for a multiplayer experience, their looking for a fantastic highly polished single player experience.  Bringing multiplayer woudl attract some people, but if they had to sacrifice effort on the single player game it just wouldn't be worth chasing away the target audience for a small group.

Holy crap. Every time I see this it looks better and better. Though I am bummed there will be no online multiplayer. It would definitely increase the longevity of the game.

you sound like the devs are bound to fail if they added multiplayer... again in my previos post having good polished single and multiplayer mode is possible.. i understand that it would take a lot more effort but im sure they can pull it off.. have you played MGS 3, though not a very good example cause its multiplayer mode isnt that good, but its single player mode is polished as hell!. that way the game caters to the old metroid fans and gain new ones..

"bringing multiplayer would attract some people" ?. if its great like 100's or 95's in review scores cause of its controls and multiplayer, you think it will only attract some people?. i think it will attract a LOT of people, even "fps nerds" that are so used to the mouse if they heard the wiimote is a lot better would buy wiis, not like wii sales needed more moving, but still, i bet it would attract a lot of people..
