Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is Nintendo Sabotaging their own Wii games?

My question isn't really aimed at mocking Nintendo but rather asking if this is part of a greater plan so that Nintendo can still go up with their game designs or something else completely. Take the game Mario Party 8. There are serious features missing from the gameplay which people would kill to have. No one is denying that something like better Wii Mote controls, or multiplayer would boost sales massively for Mario Party 8, Brain Training Wii Degree, or heck even Zelda Twilite Princess.

My personal theories are that either.

1. Nintendo is purposely leaving these features out so that in Mario Party 9 they can just add multiplayer and better controls to it and it would considered the Ocarina of Time of the series.

2. Nintendo is trying to cut down on the longevity of their product so that people will move on to the next game faster. Nintendo has a home court advantage here because they have never established themselves as a multiplayer console. People haven't invested in the system expecting a fantastic multiplayer.

3. Nintendo is doing this for the good of its own audience. I believe that they could be taking their time executing multiplayer because they could be worried about online predetors playing on games just to get at the kids playing them. In which case Nintendo will continue taking its sweet time including these features.

4. As many of you are sure to bring up, Nintendo honestly didn't have enough time to fully implement things like a multiplayer system, or perfect Wii mote controls. I am aware that Mario Party 8 was originally designed for the Gamecube. I have personally waited for the end of this article to mention this just to see how many people read the whole thread.

I'll go with number 4 on your options up there.  Here is why:

Mario Party 8:  Gamecube Title, didn't have a wholelot of time to make the game completely Wii specific.

Big Brain Academy:  Rushed, should have had online play.  I agree that this was not well made.

Twilight Princess: What was msising again?  Anything you can really complain about though, remember it was a gamecube game again.

Proof to the contrary of your theory:  Mario Strikers Charged.  Online multiplayer and ranking boards, lots of new players, and tons of new moves.  Super Smash Bros. Brawl.  I have never seen more polish on a first year system title in my 20 years of gaming.  The amount of stuff they are including in this game (everything anyone could ask for) and the amount of money put into this game (they have hired every major amazing music composer in the industry) and the amount of time spent on the game (2+ years) shows a true commitment to excelence.  If anything, Nintendo is the exact opposite of how you describe them.
