Don't mind the stupid name as the main point of this post is to talk about an idea my cousin and I have had for a long time so I just want to share it to see what people think. The Xboy refers as we like to call it is MS portable gaming device that we hope MS someday makes. Obviously the hardest thing about starting something from scratch is where will the support come from? For us the solution is to basically be an xbla player with the possibility of making original and new games for it but the key is to make it backward compatible with every single xbla to date and beyond. This would allow for it to have out of the box many games available to play for it that you may have already bought.  For example I have Bomberman Live and it would be great if I could take it with me on the road.  Obviously the Xboy would have online play through wi-fi or something and they can even have it so you login to xbox live to take care of the security etc.  They could potentially sell this for $100 or less depending on how powerful they are willing to make it and how many features it has.  Basically my cousin and I would love take our xbla on the road especially if we can play online and the Xboy would be the perfect solution.  Of course this is probably wishful thinking but we talk about every so often so we keep hoping heh.

By the way Sony has something very similar to this in remote play with the psp though it needs more support or in my opinion be made a standard though I understand huge games like gt prologue or warhawk might not be possible.  To me personally that is the best feature the PS3 has over the 360 and if I owned a PS3 I would have a psp just to take advantage of that especially if more games start incorporating it like bionic commando.

I totally agree with you. Microsoft should cancel the Zune and come up with a device that you can use as you stated above.

Now that would be worth $200 or lower.

thats a good idea but then only people who already own a 360 would buying which would reduce the market for it by a large amount,

will this xboy have normal games that you buy from the shop

Funny... whenever I've had reason to talk about a hypothetical Microsoft handheld, I've also always referred to it as the Xboy.

It would be a great medium through which to finally do something with this Live Anywhere idea.

Well essentially they could put the marketplace on this "Xboy" so you could just buy it straight from the player itself. Do note though, this would require hard drive storage, like an iPod, so to be honest, they may lose money putting this device at $200 or below.

with decent graphics, and all the xbla games available for DL along with game designed specifically for it i thnik it would stand a good chance of being a hit.

@obieslut
i really don't think the appeal would be limited to just xbox users, it just being a handheld opens up the possibility for a casual market audience, with the right intuitive interface of course [touch and motion]

wow sounds original !!!

I agree it should come with a decent hardrive so maybe push the price to $150 so it has a pretty nice one considering the drop in prices on hardrives etc. Also it could have games at retail but honestly my focus is on xbla since that is established. Not trying to compete with the ds or psp though you never know if it takes off. I think the prospect of buying an xbla game with the possiblity of being able to take with you on the road gives you an incentive buy an xbla game. Honestly you can even think of it as an accesory so people know it is not trying to compete with the DS or PSP etc. I just want to be able to take my always growing xbla games with me to play when ever I want. Also remember community games are also coming so could also add those to the mix.

Actually it shouldn;t be an accessory in my mind. Similiar to many ebook devices, there should be a store to purchase anything you want on the spot. An Xboy version of the marketplace should be accessible from any WiFi spot, including all XBLA games and their trial versions, gamerpics, themes, Xbox Originals titles, trailers and movie rentals. This way you can have most 360 owners enticed by the hardware, which has a base of 20 million and counting, plus it can bring in handheld enthusiasts with a base of over 100 million. The complete integration of the console and handheld will promote buying both, and Microsoft could even sell a bundle containing both with five XBLA games for those just getting into both of them.
