GameStop: GTA IV Downloadable Content For PS3

There are plenty of huge next-gen games scheduled for this year, but two are likely to stand head-and-shoulders above all the others- Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV. Therefore, when news breaks on things like exclusive downloadable content for the latter, people take notice very, very quickly. And it wasn't long ago that Microsoft paraded their "exclusive" Xbox 360 GTA IV content in front of the industry, even though some industry insiders still claimed the PS3 version would also have downloadable content.

Well, now it appears we have what we like to call a "tentative confirmation" from GameStop. They have listed the PS3 Special Edition of GTA IV at their site, and while you're probably already familiar with the the bundle, we point you in the direction of the following:

Downloadable Content: Yes

It's part of the information outline, and it states very clearly that this PS3 version will have downloadable content. After all, nobody ever said this version wouldn't get extra stuff on the Network; just that particular batch of content - reported earlier - would be exclusive to the Xbox 360 version. It also made zero sense to assume Rockstar wouldn't include any sort of added GTA IV content on the Store. Now, we wait to see if the publisher or Sony announces what their exclusive content will be

Maybe a mistake

add me

Initially Rockstar had said there will be different downloadable content for each version of the game, but people thought the whole MS paying 50 million dollars canceled that.

I still think there will be two different versions.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Whether or not Rockstar can make exclusive content on the PS3 because of a deal with Microsoft I don't know, but I'm sure they can release DLC for both PS3 and 360 anyway.

That said, unless they're not allowed, I don't know why they wouldn't want to as I'm sure people would defiantly eat it up.

Honestly DLC like this is just a way to make you pay $100 for the full game instead of just $60 (which should really still be $50). There's nothing in the DLC that couldn't be included in the full game. Imagine if GTA:SA made you pay an extra $15 to be able to unlock the third city.

i wouldnt doubt the ps3 version having extra content already included on the blu ray disc... but extra content with this game doesnt really matter since noone really ever completes it 100%...at first i was gonna get the 360 version of the game but now i think im gonna get the ps3 version... just because im used to the feeling of the controls and i dont wanna be charged or have to give up my points for extra content for a game im not gonna finish...
