ATI has just released the Radeon HD4870X2, and with this, they're the kings of video card performance again, thing that didn't happened since... well, you know.

Quick example:

GRiD

2560x1600 4xAA

HD4870X2 - 82 fps

GTX280 - 40 fps

its two 4870s on one PCB... why woouldnt it have 2GBs?

 

anyways, still under impressed, crossfireX support sucks but for some ars reason the 4870X2 + 4870 = good. WTF???????

 

Wait for nVidia to release their next card. Think the GT280 was powerful for a card, you can get for under $400, then just wait.

Ever since AMD got involved (at least i heard), the Radeon line has been picking up speed, fast. I'd say there will be a very close race between Nvidia and ATI from now on.
