@fastyxx: Considering developing a Wii title costs less than half of a PS360 title and if we go by EA:s figures, where porting is considered worth it, if it costs less than 15% of the original budget and assuming that the port costs that 15%, then a PS360 multiplatform title must sell 230% of the Wii titles sales in order to break even. Another thing to consider, when looking at million sellers is, that 360 has been a year longer in the market and therefore has more million sellers. And Wii offers not only less financial risks, but faster return of investment. The time it takes to develope PS3/360/PC multiplatform title, you already have 2-4 Wii games out.

If a 3rd party is looking which platform to develope for, it's going to look at the totals, not just 3rd party. There's no such single instance than "3rd parties". If you enter the market before developing anything, the "outsiders" already have 100% marketshare. If GTA4 sold millions, that doesn't mean that your game will sell millions. It only means that you have to compete GTA4 on the specific platform.

When we look at the best-selling genres on PS360, i believe they are shooter/racing/sports and the market is highly competed, which makes success harder. While on the Wii, there's not much competition outside party games/minigames collections.

Besides, the coin also has another side, i think we should look at the flopped titles and profits made by the companies that push the HD consoles hardest and companies that are pushing their titles on Wii. I think that's where we start seeing the biggest difference.

I believed it when I saw the picture of PS3's launch in France.

Agree. Based on cost of making the game, you really have to compare million sellers (combined sales of PS3 and X360 if not exclusive) against half million or less of the Wii.

The other point about having a more consistant flow of money due to being able to produce a Wii game faster or if not faster, at least more games produced simultaneously, is also valid.

However, the Wii game sales will always be hurt a bit by the diversity of its players, young, female, older as well as the more standard 15-30 male crowd. Because PS3 and X360 has the majority of that gamer crowd, it probably will always be able to sell their style of game the most (FPS, sports). Versus the Wii will sell well to the more diverse crowd, the mini-games, easy to pick up and play ones. But I think we will see more somewhat offbeat ones, the Cooking Mama ones that appeal more to a certain segment of the Wii population.

Torturing the numbers.  Hear them scream.

@Renar: I agree that the sales of single game will suffer from diverse demographic, but the sales will suffer on the HD consoles too, since the genres that are worth of developing, are so highly competed. Every now and then we will see one or two blockbusters on HD consoles, while the other games are on the verge of profitability or make losses. Outside first party games, i doubt we will see games that try something new on PS360.

So Wii wins as usual. And 360 after Japan will beat PS3 by about 20,000 WW.

Next week I see the same happening. I think 360 sales will make 14,000 in Japan next week. We will see.

Yes sorry that was a mistake.... 360 was meant to be at 1% but I thought that was too high, so I lowered it but didn't adjust the rest.

Wii 1st - 95%
Wii 2nd - 4.5%
Wii 3rd - 0.5%

PS3 1st - 4.5%
PS3 2nd - 65%
PS3 3rd - 30.5%

360 1st - 0.5% (would take some kind of miracle)
360 2nd - 30.5%
360 3rd - 69%

Changed.

You don't have much faith in the Wii and its future.

Anyway, what I really wanted to say is that Galaki is referencing Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 with the hit percentages. The game is broken in several regards, the hit percentage and forecasted damage are among the most annoying things, because they are off so often.

What you see isn't what you get. There are more hidden variables unaccounted for.

Perhaps, I got way too vague :)
