Forums - Microsoft Discussion - US Xbox Live account,US Live code, but living in Europe

I`ve heard that it works. Buy an US Live code, type it on my US account and it works.

But - will i be able to play with my friends that are european,or just the US ones?

What about the region free/region blockes games? Please help.

Around the Network

If I understand the question, yes, you can use a US live account/code on your Euro box and play everyone in your friends list in games, with the exception of 'Army of Two' as it's locked to regions, but I don't know what region it will lock you to(account or console).

with the exception of 'Army of Two' as it's locked to regions

Is the online element of that game locked to a region? I didn't know that.

I don`t think that Pal and NTSC online games are incompatible...on single player maybe, but not online.

And it`s just Army of two,it`s not Gears,Cod4 or Halo 3.

When Army of Two launched with decent reviews, we thought all was well in the world of mercenary combat simulation. But none of us expected the game to ship with region-locked multiplayer. Apparently, European Xbox 360 owners are unable to play he game with their US friends. Originally outed by gamers, the PAL Xbox 360 manual confirms the rumor:

The online game modes in Army of Two are not cross region compatible and is only supported between PAL discs.
An EA developer on the official EA forum speculates that the choice was made to reduce server loads (no word yet if PAL PS3s are similarly inflicted). Needless to say, it's an unpublicized annoyance that we hope does not become a pattern.
