Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Still Buying From the Virtual Console?

There hasn't been anything I wanted since Starfox 64 and that was months ago I think...

There's another issue:
Would you really buy the VC megaman releases? You could spend 500 or 800 points each to get any of the NES or SNES titles OR you could find a Mega Man Anniversary Collection or the Mega Man X collection for the Gamcube that can be played on the Wii anyway. Both collections are around $20, Megaman Anniversary collection has 10 NES titles for $20, whereas the VC would run you $50 (500 points for 10 games). The SNES titles would cost even more. Then what about a game like Super Mario World which was also added to Super Mario Allstars. You could spend the 2300 points for Super Mario Bros. 1, 2, and 3 and Super Mario World OR wait until the release of Mario Allstars and get all 4 games PLUS the lost levels for the 800 point SNES price.

Again, I like the VC, I just think the price for the games are a bit much, especially when you can get stuck in these collection loops.

They are especially overpriced when you consider they're almost identical to their original versions. While on the 360 and PS3 old games are remade anew for the same prices and less.

I think the $10 for N64 games is alright. But the $8 for super nintendo is overpriced. $8 for Genesis games is a joke. Some game are well worth the money (Zelda, Gungstar Heroes, Streets of Rage 2, Castlevania 4, Actraiser). But most are not. $ 5 for Nes games is outrageous. Why waste 10 dollars on pacman and lode runner when you can buy Zelda OoT for the same price? Only games like Metroid and Punch out for Nes may deserve the $ 5 tag.
I know licensing these games is expensive, but with they can release a N64 game for 10 bucks they may release nes for 2 and Genesis for 5.

I'll stick with my PSN games. 8$ for SuperStarDustHD, or 7? Dollars for Gradius... haha. How can you compare them

I buy VC games still when one comes that I want. I generally check the updates every Monday (usually on Kotaku since the Wii Shop Channel is slow) and if there's something I want, I download it. The last thing I probably downloaded was Zelda II and it was well worth the money.

 -edit-

As for the pricing, I consider it more than fair.  True, there are some games on the VC that I would never pay the asking price for, but I also wouldn't pay $1 for those games anyways so I really don't care how expensive they are.

I completely agree with ItsaMii.
Personally I always thought VC games were overpriced for what it is. Only a handful of games can be justified with the pricetag. I don't know why someone will pay $5 for crappy NES sports games.

crappy old school NES games are more entertaining than next-gen games.

It's easy enough. Today I'll be getting Actraiser and Street Fighter 2 Turbo. :)

You can keep your games, I can keep mine, we're all happy. :)

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

Still buying some of the titles but I agree that they're overpriced.

@Kwaad: I'd pay 15 $ for Gradius before I pay 8 $ for Stardust. When are you going to get it into your brain that gaming is not primarly about graphics for a lot of people.

itmay have slowed down, bu ti still buy. I have stopped buying Mega Drive and TG though.
